I have reloaded recipes that I worked up for both these guns previously. 212gr ELdx for the 300 WinMag using RL 22 and 165 TSX using RL 19 for WSM. We are going in Sept where temps will avg 80 degrees. I am going to start working load this winter in Anchorage Ak for 180-190 gr TSX in the Winmag and was wondering if I should consider different powders due to temperature changes from 25-30 degrees F here until June then hunting in 80 degree F or more in Sept. I have on hand H4350, RL22, RL19, Superformance, IMR 4350, Accurate 4350, TAC, VV540, Accurate 2520. Maybe I am just overthinking it. If I dont load to max velocities, assuming precision and accuracy is doable with a given powder/bullet, I believe I should be fine. H4350 seems to be most temperature stable for my components from what I have read so far. Just looking for thoughts from some more experienced reloading individuals.

180ttsx, H4832sc. 300wm 2950fps mv is my load.
Did you concern yourself very much about increasing ambient temperature while deciding on powder and velocity? Or just whatever worked out the best? There will be 60-70 degrees difference for me from load development to actually being on the hunt.

RL22 works for me with the 180ttsx in the Win mag. Stay a bit below Barnes book max and should be fine.

In the WSM, 100v gave the best results, but some people say it is temp sensitive. I have not experienced issues.

Good luck!

H4832sc is supposed to be very temp stable. It has been very consistent for me from the east coast of Virginia to Montana

After initial load development you could test warm ammo by keeping it in a warm vehicle, ice chest, etc. Maybe with a thermometer along for the ride. Unsure how you get it warm enough to begin with though.

I’ve been reloading with RL22 for 25+ years now and I whole heartedly believe the temperature sensitivity argument is blown way out of proportion!

I’ve used the same .300win load with RL22 from 20F to 110F and never had an issue.

Just curious, What velocity and bullet weight to you use?

At Kalahari Safari, the Small Things Are the Big Things
The thrill of the stalk. The stillness of the wait. The age-old rhythm of the hunt.
It’s not just about the size of the trophy. It’s about the stories that will be told for years.
We believe the memories are the true prize. The small things are the big things.
And we’re proud to offer a hunting experience that honours exactly that.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
