The Premier never ceases to amaze me with his chosen endorsements. I don’t think he is as conservative as he pretends

Ford seems to be little more than a conservative of convenience, ether that or conservative has a whole different meaning in Ontario which is also possible given that RLD claims to be a long standing Ontario conservative and yet routinely displays liberal leanings.

Ontario isn’t the only premiership guilty of that Tim Houston seems to also be fairly left leaning despite leading a conservative government.

Who thinks Trump will leave the Iran war for the next POTUS to resolve like he did Afghanistan?

Who thinks Biden will leave a giant economic and illegal immigration mess for the next POTUS to clean up?

Oh wait......he already did that!

Who will get soldiers killed and leave billions of dollars of military hardware in the hands of the Taliban during the Afghan withdrawal?

Yep.....meat puppet Joe Biden did !

Oh.....and for over 40 years no POTUS has had the guts to take on IRAN or obliterate their nuclear capabilities.
But of course Obama sent them pallet loads of cash via private plane in the middle of the night , and gave them a nice pat on the back.

Ford has shrunk government, lowered taxes and brought massive overspending by school boards under control by literally taking over the school boards. He supports business and deregulates. He deregulated beer and wine sales and has cut some signifiant fees. He put together tax breaks to attract foreign investment on a very large scale. Sounds pretty conservative to me. Does he have to hate on native Canadians to make the cut for you?

The only non-conservative thing I think he has done on a large scape is not getting government spending down. But who has done that?

The thing was Chow is weird. Almost as weird as Trump's praise for Mamdani.

Funny, I heard the new definition of EBITDA is Earnings Before Iran, Tariffs, Diesel, and AI. :)

Not so funny, I also heard a pretty credible sounding economist saying that $6 diesel will likely be $8 or $10 diesel in the next few months.

The irony of the whole situation is pretty astounding. I need to first make clear, I am still a republican and a lot of this happened to be put in motion during the last admin, and even prior to Trump's last term.

Trump asks Zelensky to stop hitting Russian diesel refineries. The irony behind that is, they are hitting those refineries with tech we helped them develop and supplied them with materials to make. All the while, Russia (and China) are helping Iran/IRGC/Houthis in their tech to coordinate more accurate attacks (ie: US base missile attacks, Saudi pipeline attacks).

This was just such a poorly planned campaign. He surrounds himself with terrible advisors and the really-substantiated rumors are he fires the ones that don't tell him what he wants to hear. The advisor who told him it would take 5-7 years to get Venezuelas infrastructure online he fired.

I am feeling pretty confident I was right in that Hegseth was the absolute wrong guy for the job.

He’s also been caught up in land development scandals, been accused of and repaid expense account abuses been accused of interfering in o.p.p hiring practices and been accused of corruption in job training fund.

From the outside looking in ford looks similar to a Jimmy Hoffa style leader a charismatic paper gangster. That is not saying he hasn’t done some good but only time will tell what his legacy will be.

As for the natives perhaps you should spend some time among them that isn’t billable hours before jumping to their defence. It is easy to justify their actions when you get paid to argue on their behalf. It’s a whole other kettle of fish when you are forced to sit and watch the industry you make a living in be raped and pillaged just to be sold illigally to fund alcoholism and drug abuse. You seem to see the native as a noble savage wronged by the white man just trying to make his way in the modern world. When in reality they are little more than professional protestors out to make a quick buck wherever possible be it government hand out or exploitable resource in order to feed their habits.

The east coast native has literally every opportunity to get ahead, tax breaks government hand out money free schooling a multitude of commercial fisheries to participate in and all of the best gear our tax money can buy to do it with yet they still choose to live like gutter trash. So explain to me why I should think they deserve my sympathy?

I believe all men are created equal and deserve equal treatment based on their actions, yet people like you tell me that one group of degenerates is above the law simply because their ancestors signed a paper with the English monarchy in 1710? Suppose for a minute that they had the foresight to see that most of their ancestors would be drinking men , would you defend their right to drink and drive if they had the foresight to include a clause giving them the right?

Society doesn’t work unless there is one set of rules for everyone plain and simple.

I didn't say he was squeaky clean, I said he is a conservative. He's a politician, you expect him to be clean? He definitely has skeletons in his closet, but his policies are clearly conservative. If you think the left has a monopoly on political corruption you are mistaken.

Now you sound like a happy Globalist. Do you think that people in Texas, France, Newfie, Russia, Pakistan, Ghana and Nigeria should all be ruled by the same laws? I guess you think Mexicans should all be able to move to the United States at will as well. All men created equal right? The truth is these folks are members of different nations that predate our arrival, and our legal system and the American one clearly recognizes that they are members of different nations and our relationships with them are governed by treaties. I now it is convenient for the new victim class, which I guess you are a member of, to want to ignore history and written agreements so they can whine, but it won't get you anywhere.

Do you feel the same way about the piece of paper a bunch of rebellious Englishmen signed in 1215 or 1787 as you do these treaties? Or is the paper signed by all white guys just more binding than agreements signed with non-whites.

But the fact you chose to refer to native Canadians as "one group of degenerates" tells me pretty much the whole storey about how you think about them. Allow me to let you in on a little secret, bad and exploitative policy is not the purview of just one cultural group. There are plenty of white, yellow and other coloured people who have abused the shit out of natural resources, and strangely enough I don't blame you or other white folks for the 1992 Grand Banks Cod collapse. Or Love Canal. Or Bhopal. Or Chernobyl. Or the Dust Bowl. Or Exon Valdiz. Do you think all that was racially driven or do whites just get a pass? Truth is there are better and worse policies and practises and people in all cultural groups but it is just easy for hateful people to try and pin everything on race different than theirs.

There are plenty of native Canadian led natural resource initiatives that work really well. But that might require you to put your hate aside for a couple of minutes to see that. I won't hold my breath.

The leader of the local band literally has a party room built with a large ornate bathtub in the middle of it because she likes to be pissed on. I know several individuals forced to take part in such parties in order to lease licenses from the band.

If not degenerates what would you call it?

Just let me check. As a conservative do you think we should do away with the federal owner-operator policy so everyone can compete on an equal playing field or is that regulation and business support okay?

It’s a moot point because we ( the commercial fleet) figured out how to skirt the owner operator laws almost as soon as they came out, but to answer you question no I support owner operator laws and would go a step further and stop the stacking of licenses.

You should really book a trip to Nova Scotia , I’d love to show you around and introduce you to the people you defend. Show you trout streams I fished as a kid there banks covered in burnt tinfoil and used needles , or drive you to publicly owned wharves that are now fenced off so no one save for the natives fishing illegally out of there can access them. You can get as righteously indignant as you want but the fact of the matter is your not hear to actually see what goes on day to day.

Most of the natives here never even identified as native until the wake of the Marshall decision. Most are of mixed African decent and claimed African Canadian status until such time as it became financially better to be feathered.

As for the cod yes we overfished it , my father was a guilty as anyone of that know what the difference was ? When the commercial fleet was pouching cod and overfishing quota they were committing crime and were charged if caught. Their actions weren’t excused as ok because of the historical guilt.

Frankly this message comes across as tone deaf to me - I don't think most people share his sentiment. I guess we'll know in a couple of months.

Also, a few folks on here speculated a couple of days ago about diesel going up. It's $9.25 here currently (I looked this morning). Unleaded is 9 and a penny.

Sadly, the same silly comments are coming from well off politicians in Europe who refuse lowering tax on fuel to help out the common man..

You are correct sir! And that is my point. Although I would say the difference is more style than substance. The United States, can, and does limit the right to bear arms.

On this issue the difference we (in Canada) unfortunately don't have any specific protection for that right.
Actually, the real point is that while at times, the Government over-stretches what they think they can do, there is a system in place to check the excesses. Is the right infringed? Of course it is. That's why organizations such as SAF exist. Sometimes, they stop bad laws from being made. Other times, they get bad laws overturned on the basis of "they didn't have the right to do that." Just ask Bruen.

Now, as far as comments re: "treaties previously signed", all I can really say about that is to ignore the destruction of a resource based on "well, we said you are able to manage that..." might be ignoring the spillover facts. Like how gross mismanagement affects others well beyond the intended. You can barbecue whatever you like in your back yard, but when the smoke and flames light my back porch on fire, well, you might see some fire hoses over your fence.

Also, it is clear you are unaware of what actually happened in Love Canal, and no English rebels signed a treaty in 1787. There was one in 1783, but we can talk about that on the next Oprah...

The Iranian Mullah regime must go, and that should happen only with a Bottom-Up revolt by the Iranian people. I don't believe in our bombing their bridges, electrical plants, etc.

What we should be doing is arming their people with inexpensive Euro-caliber handguns/ammo dropped or smuggled in to give them a chance to neutralize their local police terror forces. A sort of Liberator pistol of 2026.

I think the Iranians are capable of a modern self-rule state with a much muted theocracy.

Problem is, that whenever the Iranian people rise up and speak out, they are ruthlessly executed by the IRGC.
It would take a serious commitment and expenditure from the U.S intelligence agencies to arm those people in a manner that would be effective.

I saw $7.07-7.17 in Indiana and 7 at a truck stop on the Mississippi/lousiana border. Both places up 9-10% from a week prior

Do you seriously believe he has achieved this?
All he has done is confirm to the Iran regime that they must achieve nuclear capability for their security!

I do, it think Iran is shell of itself militarily, and does not have the ability to enrich uranium.

What path forward does Iran have? Their only hope is that Trump gets bored or Americans/Europeans get upset and can't handle the higher gas prices. Everyone saying the war is a failure is just helping with regime propaganda.

These Iranian leaders are unavailable for comment.

The best analogy that I can think of is that Trump is fighting a tar baby over in Iran. Sure he can land nearly every blow he throws, but never really destroys the thing; just gets covered in sticky shit as a reward for his efforts.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
