I'm 57. I was asked for ID when attempting to purchase a single beer in Gallup, NM two nights ago. When they said they would scan my ID, I declined and left without the beer.

In my hometown in Southern Oregon, most of the major box stores also will ask for ID and then scan it. I simply dont buy there. Im now down to buying beer at a few small retailers.

When I have been in usa we have been asked for ID to buy any type of alcohol in numerous establishments....or even to enter the place....some no when they got to know us especially in reno at sci....as we got quite well known for some reason....over many years of going there.....:D Drunk::D Cheers::D Beers:.....and we all looked well older than your legal drinking age of 21 .....
Yes, you must present a valid, unexpired photo ID to buy beer in Oregon if you appear to be under 26 years old, as mandated by the Oregon Liquor Control Commission.

Guessing the US and Israel, along with many of the ME, won't agree to this:

What we are probably seeing here is this statement and Trumps statement are both true from different perspectives.

Iran has zero leaders or 100 depending on the point of view. Some are trying to gain control. Virtually all the leaders were way down the list a month ago. America is talking to someone who thinks they can consolidate power within Iran. The publicity statement is probably from someone within the IRGC confirming the hardline of last months leadership.

It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

That is true and some corporations are choosing to expand that to everyone. I had one retailer try to blame OLCC (Oregon Liquor Control Commission), but I presented the OLCC Oregon Administration Rules (OARs), and they backed off, now only asking for date of birth

Confusing me now as I thought you said no ID was needed.... :E Shrug: ..and we all looked well older than 26 years old....some still had their beards they never shaved off from a certain unit in the rhodesian war.....so .....

I guess this is where we differ good sir. I’d love to see that straight closed for the next few months, or until the election in November even. I think $10 a gallon is exactly what we need to get rid of the Republicans in the house come fall. And remind the American people what an epic fucking shit show Republican administrations are.
Proof positive that the Democrat Left is an absolute fraud. You sir, and others like you, don't care about the poor or needy or anything else, you simply want power, and you don't care who gets crushed in the process.
Trump is following the stereotypical Republican agenda to a T.
And that's exactly why we voted for him.
1. Cut taxes for the rich.

2. Cut services for the poor.
See my note above about Democrats and how little they care about the poor.
3. Start unnecessary war
Oh to the contrary, this war is not only necessary, but 47 years overdue.
4. Sink the economy and cause a recession.
Again, quite the contrary, the economy does very well under Republican leadership.
On the plus side, the next step is for America to wake up and elect a Democrat to clean up the Republican mess again. Just a reminder folks, every recession for the last 45 years has been under a republican president.
Caused by Democrat malfeasance in the prior administration.

The statement that you have to have an ID to buy a beer was made. You have heard from two of us that you dont always need an ID to buy a beer. Whats confusing about this to you?

Around here when buying alcohol the cash register pops up a message saying something like "born before" - whatever 21 years before the current date is. If the sales person thinks you might be too young they ask for ID. Since I'm in my 8th decade they seldom ask. I've sometimes offered to hug them if they'll card me. ;)

What a stupid freaking argument. The premise is— you must be a citizen to vote. If you are twelve years old you cannot buy booze. It is not rocket science! The need for guardrails for requiring an ID should be obvious. If you are 50 years old or older it is likely obvious you are above legal alcohol age so the seller is given an option (not requirement… AN OPTION) to not require ID. Tell me the same is obvious for recognizing citizenship status! Too stupid or too lazy to prove citizenship to vote? I’d guarantee those same worthless idiots whining about it would produce 14 types of proof of citizenship if required for welfare goodies paid for by tax payers.

I am not looking for a freebie but I also believe in not having to do something that in my 40+ years of voting I have not had to do to fix a problem that doesnt exist. I have many forms of ID, everything from DD214's to a birth certificate. When I registered to vote I proved who I was why should I have to do it again. They have yet to prove in a court of law that voter fraud swayed an election. When they do I will support it until then - No!

So to be clear there is no need to address a small known problem until it is proven that is a big enough problem to have major consequences.

You can simply ask them not to scan it. That’s what I do. Sometimes they have to call a manager over but they always check me out.

my point. you are overthinking my simple comment. in alaska, your retailer will get in trouble if they don't ask for ID. if you don't get carded, good for you. I'm 65 and still get carded cause its the law, not because i look close to 21.

regardless, if you want extra people to vote, that is how its done, don't ask for the prospect voter to prove they are who they claim to be. you will eventually get what you want. and deserve it.

Its possible the world ends tomorrow - it is not probable. Inventing a problem versus dealing with real problems is not where I wish to focus my attention. Probable vs possible

There seem to be several cases where the democratic candidates now wins seats that was won by republican with two digits marginals in the general elections...wonder if these are just anomalies or a sign of what is to come in midterms?
Hopefully a sign of the times. Double-digit swings aren't an accident

Yep. Jimmy Carter and Barbara Walters were the two most responsible for rise of the Ayatollah in 1979 and what the world has lived with since. A legacy neither have been held accountable for.
I think you're leaving out the CIA in that assessment. And what about Regan's lack of accountability for letting Afghanistan go to shit after the Commies left? We could blame some of that on him as well, plenty of blame to go around.

Kellog is 50% on target, 50% clean miss.

He and others are finally stating clearly that we should be aiming for regime change, not just a degradation of Iran's capabilities. So far so good, even though there isn't a clear path to achieve that objective.

The part where he misses the mark is calling for the people of Iran to rise up against the IRGC. This is simply irresponsible.

Asking an unarmed population to rise up against a Government that needs little excuse to murder tens of thousands is downright foolhardy.
Maybe bc they saw that Bush's daddy said similar things to the Kurds and then abandoned them?

I can buy beer without providing an ID - I did not say where I bought it only that I could. The fact that you arent always carded and you never mentioned a bar in your earlier post or large cities, only buying a beer.
First of all I never mentioned buying beer ever.... you have me confused with someone else.

And FYI.... I am ALWAYS carded for tobacco

Now lets examine something else that's regulated and you have a constitutional right to own...Guns.

Do you walk into a gun store and buy guns off the shelf without showing ID ?

After all the alcohol argument is pointless....you don't have a constitutional right to buy booze; yet you do for guns and you still have to show an ID, just like when you get on an airplane that is regulated by a federal agency.

@mdwest cited his sources, looks like the CBO says that illegals are a net economic gain for America. Thats what I meant by it costs us $0. They are an economic positive, not a negative.
You can talk about economic positive, only after you ascertain what the REAL COST of illegals is with unpaid medical bills, incarceration, social services and everything else.

Point blank - Illegal immigrants are more profitable than slaves!

Think about it - you have to provide medical care, food, shelter, ect for a slave; but if you hire illegal immigrants the tax payers take care of all of that through bloated social programs.

P.S.

If you cannot operate a business in a profitable manner without illegal labor, then by definition you are operating a CRIMINAL ENTERPRISE!
