Politics

I believe that the tough love given NATO was necessary to spur more investment in defense and less on woke/ liberal initiatives. All positive actions.

But if any current or future politician refused to come to European
Nations defense if illegitimately attacked would be political suicide.

European nations have saved Americans bacon several times and helped us immensely in the GWOT. Politicians may have forgotten ( or worse never learned ) this. But I am hopeful Americans would not allow it.

Hell of a thing to say about someone you don’t even know who left college to help run the family farm and ranch after her father was killed when he basically sank and suffocated in a grain bin. She saved the family farm and ranch while having to borrow money to pay ridiculous inheritance taxes (death taxes). Death taxes are what motivated her to lobby against such stupid taxes and eventually run for office after encouragement from several people. She excelled in school and received awards from several organizations as a youth. I can only speculate that I would have had a tough time staying in college had my father died while I was away, leaving my mother and siblings a mess.

Quit being an imbecile.
Well said. Where is all the Noem bashing coming from? My guess they are all brainwashed, mindless tools of the left wing, Demtard driven media. It’s also disturbing that quite a few gutless RINOS have joined. WTH?

I have a feeling that at present most of the european countries highly doubt that the US under Trump will honor their treaty obgliations under the Nato treaty if Russia would attack a member. So that alone will probably mean that the build up of the european military forces will continue for the time being and hopefully reach the agreed 5 percent of GDP.

The buildup of european militaries forced by the war in Ukraine and the demands from Trump are a good thing regardless, europe can and should take responsibility for our own safety.

I do think once in awhile Trump is crazy like a fox. I probably would shake NATO's nerves a bit if I was in his role solely to have them realize the urgency to meet their GDP spending commitments on NATO "in case USA won't backstop them". NATO has used the USA as a safety net while they spent their wealth on domestic programs. It looks like progress is being made to have each member country contribute to the defense of the whole more equitably.

Dude, I’m going to rerupture my wound if you don’t stop!

Thank you for your awesome spot-on-fact humor.
....Also french toast...I love french toast...I love to "woof" it down (God I amuse myself soooo much sometimes)

America will engage.....maybe not until its bases are in danger (using the SWAG intel methodology). Remember that Trump talks loud and blunt to get everyone's attention and start talking, then changes once agreements emerge. That's my .02

Thoughts on the about half of the last 100 pages here:

  1. I can see that you're very committed to your current level of understanding.
  2. I'm jealous of people that haven't visited this thread.
  3. Thank you for helping me, it was like doing it myself only harder.
  4. Your food for thought leaves everyone still hungry.
  5. Nothing lights up a forum like your absence.
  6. I wish I didn't have common sense, you seem so happy.
  7. It's impossible to underestimate you.
  8. You've mastered the tone of authority without the inconvenience of depth.
  9. I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
  10. I now understand why instructions have pictures.
  11. It's interesting what you've done with your education.
  12. As an outsider, what are your views on intelligence?
  13. We can explain it to you, but we can't understand it for you.
  14. Don't let people's knowledge get in the way of your confidence!
  15. You absolutely light up every room you walk out of.

Seriously, we need help. @mdwest @Red Leg @VertigoBE @Altitude sickness and others, can you please rescue this thread from the clutches of drunk raccoons?

I continue to be very cautiously hopeful that Bari Weiss is making some incremental progress in dragging CBS News back toward the middle of the political spectrum. This is the most dispassionate review of the shooting of Pretti that I have yet read. One would hope the various spokespeople for the administration would review the emerging facts as well, and perhaps apply a lesson learned or two.

After a shooting or other red hot issue, Kristy Noem and Steve Miller should be locked in the room for 48 hours and not allowed to speak to the press.
Along with the President.

To quote our most quotable senator - when referring to Trump, John Kennedy observed, "tweeting a little less would not cause brain damage," and that Trump "grows anxious when he has an unexpressed thought." I assume that makes Kennedy a swamp traitor in what passes for the minds of the more intellectually gifted members of the MAGA movement.

Wouldn't have thought these purges on top Chinese military wouldn't be good for their effectiveness in any "situation " Iin the near future.....

Fate of China’s top general more likely to do with power struggle than corruption | China | The Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...eneral-zhang-youxia-power-struggle-corruption
Its a little like the purge that Stalin made just prior to World War 2. Turned out to not be a great move for the Soviet Union when operation Barbarossa commenced.

I'd say making statements to the press without having any facts or worse straight out lying. In the article below she made several FALSE statements to the press. What is really bad was shooting occurred in the morning and statements were made in the late afternoon/early evening. By that time several videos of the shooting contradicting the statements were already out.

It is sad but both sides do this. For some reason politicians just can't keep their mouths shut when a crisis shows up. They open their traps and spout forth whatever they think that someone else will believe and that suits their narrative.

I like the job Noem is doing. But stepping up to a microphone seconds after a fatal shooting and calling the deceased a terrorist is not professional.

How about waiting until at least some facts come in.

I don’t think he should have injected himself into an active arrest. But that does not constitute terrorism.

He shares blame for his death but a disturbed person being stupid isn’t terrorism.

Will Trump block article 5 to maintain the relationship to Russia..?

His deference to Russia and mind-boggling decisions, such as inviting Russia to join a "peace" council, makes me wonder about that as well. There is nothing in his treatment of Putin that would give me confidence he has anyone's back regarding Russia. My guess is he would make excuses for why other countries provoked Russia.

French army has the best weapons on the battlefield “ never fired and only dropped once “
Except for several select units I wouldn’t trust France to step in for much in NATO ( most French citizens hate , us USA guys and have zero problem telling you straight up to your face in my experience)
IMO it might be a mistake to let French soldiers help police Venezuela !
