My dad and I bought a 7 day 5 animal trip at a ducks unlimited auction and are trying to plan it out. Looking for advise from people who have been before.

Welcome to AH .300wby! Where is this hunt taking place? What species are included and will you be adding any other species to your hunt? Poke around the site, lots of information...

Welcome, as J says, start reading....

Posted and signed off, you must be a fisherman at heart. Drop the bait and head for a snooze. :)

Welcome to AH!

Well welcome to AH! Who you hunting with and when do you have to go? 2012 or 2013?

It's with mark Hudson safaris. We are trying to figure out if it is possible to go this August or if it is more realistic to plan for next August.

Well as others have said this is a great sight! Every thing you need to know is here. Not knowing you, it is hard to tell you what to do. For all I know you don't even have a passport yet, which will make 2012 hard to do. So my recomendation is to go through this sight and search for your questions. If you find find an answer, ask. Everyone here is great and will give gel you with your question. An good luck! This is one of the best parts of the trip! And it only gets better!

South Africa is malaria free and easy to get around in. You can make in 6 months. Basics are probably taken care of, but get the Passport.

If you are taking your own weapons, make sure you review the paperwork from your outfitter about getting the weapons in.

Using thier guns can be an easy way to go.

Boots are key. Lots of walking. Pack lighter than you think - the camp will handle laundry. I take clothes for 3 days.

Never, ever, pack your boots in the checked luggage. And wear a hunting shirt and pants on the plane. If your bags get lost, you're still good to go with a borrowed gun.

Wear layers, it can be cold in the morning and shorts weather at 11:00 a.m.

You will have an awesome time.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
