OH Greetings

Greetings Rattler1,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Two of my Alaska friends just returned from hunting antelopes and piggy wiggy on Coutada 9.
They said the wide open, not-game-fenced hunting was so remarkable that they did not notice the hot weather most of the time.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.
Velo Dog, thanks for the reply. I may have an opportunity to reschedule Mozambique for August/September instead of November as the outfitter had some cancellations. Working on it now. I see Anchorage in your bio. Gwennies still open in? I have hunted the AK Peninsula unguided 6 times, Toklat River area and Phillips Smith Mountains. Have three moose over 60", two griz and two Dall Sheep. Can't wait to go back. Need to sneak an Africa trip in have the itch. I'll be poking around AH great source of info!

Hi again Rattler1,

You’re most welcome.
And Gwennie’s ya, still open but only 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
It is my favorite breakfast place all winter (usually not so crowded then).

Sounds like your efforts here in the frozen north have been paying off.
After 42 years here, I still love it.
However, I’m old now and no longer hunt big game here, as I’ve grown tired of waking up in a damp tent, eating ramen noodles every day, glassing and hoping. LoL
Not to mention that flying around in a lawn mower with wings, in severe turbulence still gives me the creeps, to this day.
Fortunately, friends have always given us an adequate supply of venison each fall.

But, I still hunt hare and grouse plus, fly fishing the endless list of streams and rivers that I can reach via 4 wheel drive and hiking.
My wife is from here and also loves to fish.
So here is where I likely will be when I fire my last shot and fling my last streamer.

Next time you pass through Los Anchorage, if you have time and don’t mind being seen with a prune face, let me know when you’ll be having reindeer sausage and eggs at Gwennie’s.
I’ll skid sideways into the parking lot and join you.

Stay Skookum,
Velo Dog.

Welcome to AH! Glad to have you on board.

Welcome to the best forum! Enjoy!

Greetings from Cincinnati, OH. Have hunted all over lower 48 and AK, BC/SASK/Manitoba Canada, recently invited on a hunt in Mozambique November 2025. I have that little boy feeling like I did on my first squirrel hunt. Hope to read around AH and learn from all of the experience within! Loving what I see so far:)

Welcome. Moz in November is certainly going to test your thermoregulation system!

The November trip is being moved up to August or September. Working on details now due to some cancellations. I was not planning the November trip was trying not to ruffle feathers and get too involved in details. The Thermoregulator in my system was sending shockwaves after doing some homework and thinking about the heat. Looking at a 2026 trip also. Twins graduate from college this May "Free at Last"!

Welcome and glad to see another Ohioan on here! Hope you have a blast on your upcoming safari!

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
