The problem is a "gunsmith" lacked quality on opening the magazine well of a Mark X action (going from short magnum to full length. Too much metal taken off of the sides so the cartridges don't feed. There was about .05 inch too much metal removed. I JB welded the side under the rails and the cartridges now sit where they should but the JB weld has too much drag- really needs to be steel. So I'm considering trying to use a very thin piece of steel that I can epoxy to the side of the well to replace the missing metal. I've removed the JB Weld. I would like no non-flexible steel. I've considered taking a knife and grinding it down to fit- it needs to start out at about 4" long by 1" high by 1/20" wide. Any thoughts/recommendations?

Have you checked Brownell's for a piece of shim stock?

Hacksaw or power saw blade ? I am pretty sure you can find one at the right dimension. Last resort a circular saw blade but that will need a fair bit of cutting.

Hacksaw saw blade ?
I contacted Brownells- No. But I see the hack saw option and I'm going to get some old Sawzall blades out and give it a whirl grinding them down to fit. They should be just about the right thickness. Thanks for the idea and help!!

What are the dimensions? A piece of sheet metal, either aluminum or stainless would work.

There are specific metal bonding adhesives that are incredibly strong. Panel bond adhesives are used in auto industry that will tear the metal before releasing. Might be the trick to bond strips in place.

Get a welder to TIG or lazer weld it up & grind it to dimensions
The problem with that is that the weld would be within an inch of the locking lugs, which would cause a heat issue and possible weakening.
