Hi, My name is William D Sykes and I am from California. I have been interested in hunting in Africa all my life, but for some reason after another reason I have never been able to make it over there. I doubt at my age now, 75, I will ever be able to go, especially after just having open heart surgery. But I am going to enjoy reading all about it on this page. Thanks for accepting me

Welcome to the best African hunting forum there is.

As for hunting Africa, where there is a will there is a way. If you would really want to go over for a hunt I am sure that one of the outfitters on here could set up a hunt for you where the most strenuous thing will be the flight over and back.

Welcome to AH William! Looking forward to your contribution to our community. Hope you will make it to Africa, well this is certainly one step closer. :S Welcome:

Welcome to AH! Once your back on your feet, I think you could make your dream come true.

Giday William and welcome to the A H forums. You will find many of us are in the same category of probably never getting to hunt Africa even if for differing reasons. This forum is a cure for not being there.

Welcome to one of the best communities in the hunting world Mr. Sykes . You will find 99 % of the members here to be real gentlemen and sportsmen in every sense of the word.
I would keep an open mind if l were you. I am 77 years of age and someday l still dream of going to Africa to shoot a bull elephant and getting to try a .460 Weatherby magnum calibre rifle .

Welcome to AH, William!

Welcome aboard!!

I sincerely hope you can make it over in the near future!

Welcome to AH sir. Your not too old at all. I have hunter with a friend who was exactly your age on the last safari I was on. Get yourself back into shape and chase that dream!

Welcome to AH.
I hope you can pull it off.
Enjoy your time here on AH.

Welcome to the community. Look in the mirror, and if you still see that 20 something year old full of piss and vinegar, your mind is in the right place and the body will follow. Best of luck in securing your dream!

Hi William, welcome to AH !

By the way, many of us here on AH are not so young anymore, but we still have the dream ;)

Welcome. Book the hunt. Plains game hunt first and then decide what you want for your second trip.

Welcome to AH, stick around here and the folks here will help get you to Africa in no time.

William, I sincerely hope you drive yourself into an Africa adventure! I’m not far behind you and didn’t make my first trip until i was 69. Now I have successfully made 4 and am booked with my youngest granddaughter on my 5th. I’m as excited as I was on my first. Maybe even more so since I get to share it with my granddaughter!

Best of luck getting your health good so you can make that grand adventure!

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
