New member here. I signed up mainly because I really like Mauser style sporter rifles and practical shooting. My internet searches would lead me here and I’ve enjoyed reading the intelligent and polite conversations.
I just picked up an NOS CZ550 Full stock with the 3 position safety in 9.3x62. I don’t really need a 9.3 but the caliber seemed to match the style of the rifle. (Manlicher Schoenauer fan as well) I could probably shoot the ever increasing pest hogs that we have down here in SWLA. I just shot it a few days ago with the Prvi 286 grain and it was all in the black at 75 meters. I needed the brass to reload. I’m sure it will improve with better ammunition and a scope. I used sticks and not the bench since the bench at our personal range puts you too low and greatly exaggerates felt recoil. I intend to put an aperture sight on it and send the stock to RJ Renner for some figuring and a red recoil pad. I may go with the small 1-4 that I use on my FN since the FAL handles well without it although the CZ does too. Great forum here.

Welcome to AH Marco! Glad you found us.

:S Welcome:

Welcome! Once you get that 9.3 x 62 all squared away, it will need to take a trip across the pond and put to the test. BTW, I am from NWLA but working for a bit longer in Houston.

Giday and welcome to the A H forums Marco.

Hello and welcome!

Welcome aboard marcosfal. That 9.3 x 62 is a very versatile caliber. It will take hogs with authority and African PG as well.

"Need"! Such a horrible word! The dirtiest of all words!

I don't need my 9.3x62, either, but it's fun to shoot.

Originally from Baton Rouge my own self, but I've been in or near Houston for almost 30 years.

Welcome!

Welcome to AH Marco.

Welcome Marco from another new member with a freshly purchased 9.3X62mm rifle (mine is a 22" barreled Zastava M70). I have not taken mine to the range yet.

We moved to rural St. James Parish in 2005, 6 weeks before Hurricane Katrina, and left that area in January 2012. I still have fond memories that seem to always include great food and great people (I don't / can't drink alcohol so that's just not an element for me). I was able to reciprocate sharing in things like pastalaya and gumbo with Texas style BBQ that was appreciated in teturn!

Thanks for all of the replies. I agree with “need” being pretty subjective. I didn’t need another Mauser style or caliber but sometimes deals come that you don’t see very often so I felt that I “needed” to act.

Hi Marco, welcome to AH !

Welcome to AH, spent some time in the oilfields there 15 yrs ago. Love the state love the people.

Marco, welcome to AH! Your new 9.3x62 sounds very nice and should be outstanding on hogs!

Welcome to AH!

Welcome to our forum Marco! Once you get that "new" 9.3 dialed in, you will find it almost as versatile as the .375 HH. Good luck!

Welcome to this great forum

Welcome to AH, Marco! Take that 9.3 x 62 across to Africa!

I'm a little late, but welcome to AH nonetheless!

Welcome to the family and the forum Marco, you are in the right place!

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
