Hello Everyone,

I do a lot of post reading but don’t post much myself.

Thought I’d share a rifle I just purchased. Found a Pre 64 M70 in the much loved 375 H&H. Rifle was built in 1959. Found it at a local shop on consignment. An old fellow (90+) was selling his much beloved firearms. I managed to get this one for $1500 CDN, I thought to be a pretty decent deal.

The rifle is in fantastic shape, only thing to note was a crack in the tang/wrist. Upon taking the action out of the stock it looked to have been repaired by an epoxy job.

Handloaded some rounds and brought it to the range and put a few shots at 40 yards, right on the bullseye. It’s a pleasant shooter.

One step closer to my dream of hunting Cape Buffalo!!

Love to hear more from owners of the famous Pre-64 Model 70!

Cheers,

Great Deal!!
I have six pre'64 70s in my collection, I grew up reading the writings of Jack O'Connor and enjoy the nostalgia of hunting with them. They are, in my opinion one of the best rifles ever produced. If you would like some informative reading, the book "The Rifleman's Rifle" is recommended.

Well done !!
have always liked Win's rocker Rear sight on the 375...
If I may suggest replace the scope bases with Talley's and get rid of the overhang with the rear base may help with reloading

Excellent, :D Beers: great rifle

Yes, I will definitely be keeping an eye out for them. Most of my rifles have Talley mounts, it’s the good stuff.

Grand larceny! Congrats, beautiful.

@popop118, nice find! Where's home for you?

Yep, got a steal on that rifle. Really nice find.

Put together some good loads for it and take it hunting. :D

I need to know if this is legit. Photo with today's paper would do it.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
