Friends,

I need an appraisal of my Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera body for my USAA insurance policy. All I need is an appraisal.

I bought this Z8 with a low shutter count from a semi-pro photographer on a handshake with the cash exchanged. Even though I can contact him, he does not sell cameras as part of his business.

I called a couple large camera retailers in my area and without purchasing the camera from them, no service! Stange, most businesses want potential customers to walk into thier stores.

I've also looked into photographers insurance but those are for liability, not a $4,000 retail camera body.

I asked USAA if my Customs Form 4457 would be sufficient and received a polite no, sorry...

So, does any member sell cameras as a business? If so, could I show my camera and shutter count via Zoom and receive an appraisal? Please?

Thanks in advance to all,
Mark

I know Cameraland in NY will inspect high value cameras and make purchase offers on them.. I dont know if they would do an actual appraisal as a service though.. they might be worth calling... they do a whole lot of hunting optics business these days (Id guess they sell more scopes and binos than they do cameras now)... and theyve got a stellar reputation for being good guys, super helpful to hunters and shooters, etc..etc..

Mark, just a thought here, I needed an appraisal for my safe contents for the new homeowners policy. I went to a friend close to me who has a big pawn shop because I had some non firearms related stuff.

Maybe worth a try..?

Look at KEH camera and B&H. Both have extensive used cameras for sale so you should be able to get a reasonable idea of value. I've had camera insurance for 40 years as a separate "personal items" rider through my normal insurance company (Car, house, etc.). And I've made claims for damages and stolen items that worked out well (State Farm mostly).

Funny. I was going to suggest speaking with Doug as well. If he does not do appraisals, he will square you away with someone reputable who will.

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
