NAMIBIA: My Leopard Hunt Begins

Best of luck, that flight seems like it takes forever but enjoy it! It will be an amazing time and hope you get your cat in the Salt quick!

Knock down a big cat!

That is one hunt that is on my radar. Best of luck!

The only thing that stands between me & a leopard hunt, is about $20k...... Definitely on the bucket list!!!!

Hi guys. Shot this old female this morning for bait. I fear the leopard hunting will be tough as the drought is in full effect. We have multiple baits set up here and on my PH s fathers place as well as a neighbor who has several cats he has seen coming to his water hole. Checked one track their this morning it was a big male. So we have a lot of chances just going to need some luck. Other picture is me with my PH "" SP ".

Hi guy's, just a small update since we came in for the midday siesta. Checked baits this morning nothing hit. We did once again find fresh spoor of 2 male leopards. One was a large track. They are traveling in between water holes and I would assume hunting in their travels. While driving on baits we did see a large eland cut across the road. But we were unable to find him. We did have some fun this morning as we spotted some kudu.

We decided to make a stalk towards a water hole we knew they we're headed to. One was a good mature bull that we got to within 40 yards. My ph said he was mature but we could do better. He estimated him to be about 50 inches. About being the optimal word. I told him I want to pass as we have a lot of time still.

Now some encouraging news my PH has been baiting on his farm also for several weeks since he knew he would be guiding me here. He has a large male that he has visually seen in the past hitting bait for several days now. Tomorrow we head to his place . So it's out the door at 4 am to sit on the bait. We'll be leaving soon we're going to sit at a waterhole where we have large spoor sign. This is a good spot also I'm told for eland and kudu, so maybe we will get lucky tonight. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and encouragement.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
