With all of the (comparatively) cheap .404 Jeffery ammo available right now I need to get rid of temptation and send this one down the road. I bought it with that in mind, but really need to hold out for a left handed rifle (hopefully a 550!). Pristine condition and would make an excellent donor for any number of heavy hitters, or hunt it as is with the potent present chambering. $1400 shipped to the lower 48.

Correct, 500 MDM requires the full length RUM action. I also built 500 B&M and 458 EX, both 2.5 inch RUM Cases on the same RUM action. 500 MDM is 2.8 inches.

These rifles are getting very hard to come by these days, and that is a very reasonable price. Normally I would be all over it, however I have 6 of them sitting here currently....... Well, one is a blue one.

Other options that I have done is a full length 358 RUM...... I also did a 338 .......

You guys are killing me with this talk of a 500 MDM. I had to take it a step further and do my least favorite part of selling guns; preparing them for shipment!

Don't be concerned when it shows up in a box for a left handed 527. I had to shave down the Styrofoam on the butt end by just a touch but now it's snug as a bug.

With the current state of SSK, who would do the build these days?

I don't know to be honest. I have been loaning out reamers like crazy, 458 B&M, 50 B&M Alaskan and 458 Super Short and 50 B&M......... No one has done a 500 MDM since...... I have sent reamers to 4 different gunsmiths for the reamers mentioned, and have reamers going out to two more different guys...... So far I have received positive replies back from the guys, but not enough to recommend anyone just yet.

500 MDM is not all that difficult, but one would have to do some minor work in the magazine to retain possibly........ Brian could always sort these things out pretty easy........ Someone else? I just don't know. The shorter B&Ms are easier to work with.

I had someone ask if the serial number on the bolt matches the rifle. It does indeed!

I shoot the 7mm RUM here in the US for big game. The RUM calibers will definitely reach out and touch them with authority!
