EXTREMELY IMPORTANT NOTICE

I was just notified by a member that good member @mdwest account was accessed by a scammer.
In turn the scammer changed his password and email address associated with that account. I restored @ mdwest account so everything is back in order and will be returned to his control shortly.

I am not 100% sure but I believe at this time that it is not @mdwest who posted the item for sale.

I want to be very clear, unequivocally his account was not hacked on AH. The most likely cause of what has transpired lately is that users/members are being phished into sharing the password or maybe they are using weak or common passwords, even on multiple websites/platforms. It is also a possibility that other websites where members use the same password and even perhaps the same username could have been hacked (read below about the "mother of all leaks" that occurred in June 2025). Sometimes this information is also sold on the dark web as scammers know that people often use the same or similar passwords for many accounts.

This has occurred multiple times now on the site, but this is happening all over on the internet and the answer is simple, I encourage and recommend members to change their passwords to something unique and strong by using a combination of multiple numbers, letters and characters.

I have said it before but it bears repeating for everyone safety and security everywhere online, I whole heartedly recommend to use different passwords for all of your accounts and a good way to do that is to use a password manager like 1Password and there are others like it. This was one of the best decisions I've made security and time management wise. If you do online banking such a tool is a necessity, you will not regret it but if you don't you might. Things can happen very quickly in this digital landscape where we are all buying, selling and banking. It may save you a lot of grief, perhaps money and make your life so much easier...

Here is some information that you all should read:
Recent Facebook-related breaches include a large-scale leak of 16 billion login credentials in June 2025, which exposed passwords and put users at risk of fraud and identity theft from malware-infected files.

The June 2025 Password Leak
What Happened: An enormous leak of 16 billion login credentials, including passwords, exposed users of Facebook, Google, Apple, and other platforms.
Cause: Researchers found the breach originated from malware, which targets users who download corrupted files and have weak password habits.
Impact: This "mother of all leaks" has put millions at risk of fraud and identity theft, particularly in developing nations with less robust cybersecurity.
What to Do: Users are advised to change their passwords and switch from passwords to passkeys for greater security.

USE UNIQUE AND DIFFICULT PASSWORDS FOR EVERY ACCOUNT... THERE ARE SO MANY SCAMS OUT THERE.

I hope no one sent money yet!
This was not the real mdwest selling this scope.

thanks for the assist Jerome.

This is the real me now... I woke up this morning to find that I couldnt log into AH.... and had @Houston Bill reach out to assist with contacting AH to get that resolved (thanks Bill!)...

and unfortunately found 2 threads (this is one of them) where a scope was being sold..

there are a couple of dead giveaways that the poster isnt the real mdwest if you know me... but.. if you dont, I'll give the asshole credit, its a pretty good scam...

First is the hunttalk reference that has the date stamp.. its months old.. and I dont have a hunttalk account.. they are obviously stolen images.. .

the other is... read how I "talk" online.. vs this guy... very different writing styles.. I tend to use multiple periods to separate thoughts.. which is a bit unique to me.. this guy doesnt do that at all.. and word choices are very different (IMO)...

I am hopeful that no money has exchanged hands at this point... and sincerely hope that this shit bag catches on fire at some point today...

Sorry for any inconvenience.. I now have a 16 digit PW.. Ive been using the same 8 digit for years.. lesson learned..

I suspected something because 1) the scope was underpriced by half 2) I saw the hunttalk and date reference as well 3) the account sent pushy messages quickly (below)

I sent a note to 7mmFan in case it could prevent a scam but not sure if it succeeded.

Similar thing happened to me on this site a while ago with some Swaros. From now on I talk to someone first before exchanging cash.

Sorry this happend Dave,
Made me just redo my password and go to a stronger one.

This is one of the things I like best about this forum. Well regulated and the mods do a super job.

Just wish I had 10 minutes alone with these scammers and a pair of Vise-Grip pliers.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
