I will be making my fifth trip to Africa to hunt outside Alldays in the Limpopo with Tallyho Hunting Safaris. Species I will be going for this trip are duiker, ostrich, kudu, tsessebe, and sable.

My hunt dates are 5/13 - 5/24 with 7 actual hunting days. I'll be traveling with Lufthansa, although the Houston-Frankfurt leg is operated by United. The other 3 legs are Lufthansa operated.

Does SAP still require a 4457 that is current to the previous 12 months?

Check with Henry at riflepermits.com. If anyone can tell you he will be able to. There is no mention of it on his website.

I recall hearing people complaining about that although I have never had an issue. Even with forms that are several years old. Personally I think it depends on the officer working on your permit. If they’re having a bad day they’re going to pass a little of it along to you. Good luck on your trip.

Near Alldays has a number of excellent areas! Tallyho looks like a great place to hunt as well!

The short answer is yes, it must have the newer form issue date. You may get away with an old one but you are taking an unnecessary chance.

That is most certainly a correct statement- the form now has to be within the current calendar year

Yes, you need to have a "current" form.

But more importantly, beware of Limpopo ostrich! They are not as vicious as Eastern Cape ostrich, but close! Blicksom! And be aware, they only understand Afrikaans!

Congrats and best of luck on the hunt!

Luckily, I do believe some curse words are similar enough for them to understand. Unfortunately, I don't think they will care if you are screaming "that's a big f'ing bird!":D

Hank knows....

He's quite lucky to still be alive....

This thread really makes me wish I had decided to chase an ostrich on my trip. Oh well, gives me something to work towards for a trip back. My better half also vetoed all of my ostrich taxidermy ideas...

Good luck on your trip! Tsesebbe are really neat.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
