John Deere 440 Dozer/Crawler For Sale

I'm actually an enthusiast for 70's Cat's IH, Deer, etc.

Often wondered if "Classifieds" could be used here for unique, eclectic, whatever non-hunt related collections? ;)

Evening All,

This is mostly for ActionBob, but also for everyone else who responded and was intested. I'm pretty sure it's sold. Fella coming from Wa State next week if the roads are open to pick it up. We've had fires, rock slides, mud, and everything but locusts this last week.

Sorry to our African colleagues, I couldn't find a box big enough, nor bubble wrap to get her to ya.

So, it's sat in the yard for the last almost 2 years with no love. I changed the oil/filter, put a new coil, condenser, points, plugs and wires in it, and it fired right up.

Ok trivia question; what is the proper gap on the points, and what did we use for it back in the 70's and 80's (or earlier...)

Cheers!

If memory serves, .22 for the points and .25 for the plugs. Also runs better slightly advanced.

It appears to have been a good machine for skidding logs.

I think it is .022 and it could be .025 but I think I recall something about .015 also for the spark plug gap.

That very well could be, it's been years and my memory isn't all that great anyway. :sneaky:

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
