Is this a fair price for a hunt?

I'm not at liberty to go into great detail but he doesn't collect the trophy fees, they get prepaid to the gov't or agency. (That part is not a scam)

Do those trophy fees then get returned to you for those animals that you don't shoot?

I personally would not do that hunt in that nation then. Too much risk and too many other places that don't do that.

Would you be so kind as tell tell us which country does not allow for the return of trophy fees.

They do not. That's the deal with this nation under these circumstances. Nothing to do with the PH or outfitter.

I would stay away from this hunt, the fact that the trophy fees go to some other entity and there is no refund, set off a red flag to me. I've been on 5 hunts in Africa and have talked to lots of outfitters at shows and never heard of anything like it.

Um.....if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.

It appears you are asked to be party to a fraud - on yourself. Pay for something that you may not use or receive the benefit of?

Simply because an outfitter/ph "caters to multimillionaires would mean zip to me. Does that mean because he knows they have significant assets or net worth, he raises his prices simply because of that? Kind of like purchasing a diamond ring at Tiffany rather than walking 6 blocks away and purchasing it in the jewelry district of NYC - same stone, same setting, just 40% less.

Good luck.

Ethiopia does not allow the return of trophy fees.

mike there are a couple of countries where you have to buy the govnt licences for the animals up front and that is non refundable , but you only pay the trophy fee part if you take the animal. i think ethiopia (and botwsana when the govnt areas were open) have/had this system . as this hunt appears to be taking place in zim i dont see why this is the case.

Ethiopia requires that you pay the full fee for any animals you wish to hunt up front. If you don't get the animal, too bad, no refund.

Why would anyone (including me next year) agree to this? Mountain nyala. Only place you can get it and if you want the spiral horned antelope . . .

Fair enough. Let me rephrase, which country that you can hunt the animals in the original post does not allow for the return of unused trophy fees.

I normally do not like to comment on the offers from other outfitters due to my working for HartzView Safaris, but I'd be inclined to walk away from this one. Just taking a quick look at Chifuti Safaris and hunting in their Nuanetsi area in Zim, I see the daily rates for 10 days would be $7500, so that's comparable. But the trophy fees from a quick add up from your list would be quite a bit less and you only pay for what you shoot.

And the chances of seeing all of these animals in an unfenced wild area in 10 days has to be slim to nil.

ok thanks wasnt 100pcnt on that. saw your post as i pressed the button . enjoy your hunt

First of all when you hunting PG you pay daily rates for a PG hunt, do not matter if it's in a concession with DG.

If you told the name of this "multimillion client" PH and what country, then it would be much more easy to have a opinion...

If you like a "dangerous" location contact the Tams in Cradock SA, have never visit a more nerve chilling place in whole Africa, but it's fenced with a lot of "kittens" :)

Wish you good luck in you decision !

You might see them, getting a shot opportunity.....

Certifiable hunters. No wonder everyone tries so hard to get the Mtn Nyala when they are there. More incentive to keep hunting.

For mountain nyala hunt I would pay the fee in advance, for a baboon, or anything else on the OP's list, I would not.

This post raises serious questions. You should (and do) trust your P.H. with your life, yet question the fees. Asking about the hunt without being able to publicly reveal details is kind of like looking at a picture of a woman and asking if you should marry her. Not enough info. Something isn't right, something doesn't add up. Doesn't mean its a bad hunt, but you can do better. I was invited to go on a hunt here in America that if my friend got three to go along, his was free. I asked if he was the last person to hunt, he said of course not. I declined.

Since Chifuti is mentioned I'm going to use them as a direct example of how different this hunt is from them, as I've hunted with Chifuti.

Chifuti only takes DG trophies fees before the hunt. And those fees are kept in escrow here in the states. If the animal is not taken/wounded they are refunded in full. For PG it is "as available at the time of the hunt." Meaning, do they still have it on quota. Whatever PG you take during the hunt is billed to you after the hunt. I wrote that check about a month after my hunt if I recall correctly, but it may have been a little quicker.
