I know I have lost my mind! @Kevinpeacock you are a very bad influence on me, lol!!! I am thinking of importing a 1980 vintage year Landry from SA to the US. I know there is a 25 year old exception in the US for foreign vehicle imports that helps tremendously. With the conversion rate of 18 rand to one dollar there seem to be some awesome deals I have found. Help me please…have I lost my mind? Has anyone else done this?

I have no idea on the process, but I have seen quite a few unimogs for reasonable rates that were brought over from Europe, so It doesn’t appear to be an overly expensive undertaking. (Just going on what I have seen on the pricing on the unimogs)

The Landrover I owned had its longest distance trip without going in the shop when it was on the boat over to the states!

Great question and I have done some research on this, yes 25 years or older you can register in the states (probably not California and other super blue states) and I have another option if that doesn't work (vermont)

I have been wanting to ship my Land Cruiser safari vehicle from kenya to USA and have spoken with shippers and brokers, the only reason I have not pulled the trigger is that I dont trust once I release the vehicle in Mombasa it dissapearing before getting on the boat and I will have NO recourse. I have come very close a few times but always chicken out in the end.

I have been succesful shipping items including vehicles from the states to Africa (mainly through Malawi) but scared to try the other way. If I can find a reliable way to get them on the boat and over here I will ship Land Rovers and Land Cruisers, old minis, VW buses, FJ45's all day long!!!!

I found the cost via ocean from $2k to $3k for shipping only

RB you have not lost your marbles, this is a smart move. Are you looking at a SWB or the station wagon. The SWB is cooler for sure, but the SW is far more useful.
If we are talking 1980’s I suppose it would be a Series 3 or a very early 110 Defender. In any cace it would be a good idea to do as much work in SA as possible at the lower cost before shipping it out.

I'm sending you a PM. There's a shop in Birmingham, AL that brought a few in several years ago.

You haven't lost your mind. I found a Defender 110 in Bushveld in great condition for R220,000. I'm trying to figure out how to get it back to the U.S..

I would also be interested in purchasing a Toyota Land Cruiser. I would be interested in a 2 or 4 door with the open bed to do seating. Staring wheel on the right side.

Will be watching this threat and want to learn what process are involved in the shipping and import

If you enjoy working on vehicles then you have made the right choice

I’ve owned and driven (off and on road) the following Land Rovers. Series 2 LWB 4cyl petrol, series 3 SWB 4cyl diesel with overdrive, series 2A ute 6 cylinder petrol and a Discovery V8 petrol.

I would never buy another

Enjoy the adventure

If you don’t like working on vehicles…get a cruiser

Man - I have two Landy D90's, a 1985 and a 1995 that I brought over from Europe during my tour in Germany. Forget the importation process... I will happily sell you one!!

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
