Hunting vehicle

IMG_4907.jpeg
My two rigs. 1965 Series 2a Land Rover 109 in station wagon. 1980 Mercedes Unimog 416 DOKA. The rover usually gets the hunting gigs.

My current hunting rig is a Toyota FJ Cruiser. I fell in love with my PH's badass v8 turbo diesel 5spd Land Cruiser in Limpopo but that model never made it to the USA. The 6spd V6 FJ was the closest I could find. I also liked Kevin's Gen 1 LR. My wife drives a Land Rover LR4 which may be one of the few vehicles that are more capable than the Toyota.

I have an LR4 2013 and will keep it until I die. Love the body style, glass for easy seeing and big V8. Mine just hit 130,000 miles with only a small engine tweak for a small oil leak, new tires, break job, new spark plugs and every fluid changed…runs like a dream. I just love this vehicle!!!!

Here ya go. ‘Tis the season for idjuts. Kia Telluride just up hill here above Telluride. :)

I read about this incident earlier in the week on a few other internet sites. Having just returned from 4-wheeling in that area a few weeks ago, I marvel at his ability to get that rental vehicle into that predicament; notwithstanding the fact that car rental contracts there specifically prohibit taking them on Black Bear Pass or Poughkeepsie. Sucks that he shut down the pass for everyone for a few days, and i still don't know if they have recovered the vehicle yet.

PS - the irony of a Telluride being stuck on the trail just above Telluride is not lost on me. :)

Yeah, save the Unimog for the Apocalypse. Both of these are awesome. Love it.

The Rovers are fine vehicles. Ours is the SCV6. Loads of power and solid drive. My wife's LR4 is just like her cats. It is never allowed to get its feet dirty, lol. But, it is nice to know it can if needed. The Toyota on the other hand is in the dirt and mud all the time.

I did not mention it but I also have a 30yr old Isuzu Trooper, V6 5spd that has been my go-to hunting truck for the last 8yrs. It is not a powerful as the Toyota and it lacks the fancy bells and whistles such as diff-lockers, traction control, stability control or other but within the limits of its ground clearance, that little truck will go anywhere that I have the nerve to point it. We have an amazing 4x4 trail network in KY near me called the Danial Boone Backcountry Byway. It is 100's of miles of fairly difficult Jeep trails and honestly some of them scare the hell out of me when trailing alone looking for new squirrel hunting opportunities in the DB National Forest. Yet, the little Isuzu never complains, it just goes over any terrain. I will probably sell the ZuZu now that I have the FJ to replace it.

She was light, slow, steady & small so she could get me anywhere I needed to go...wish I still had her.

I've driven nothing but SUV's since the mid 1970's starting with a '73 International Scout, a couple of Ford Broncos, two Jeeps (Cherokee & Grand Wagoneer), 3 Ford Explorers and 2 Ford Expeditions. Last year I sold my latest Expedition and bought a 2021 GMC Acadia. Still has plenty of room for what I need and I love the gas mileage (24-28 Hwy). Like what was said above, the only drawback of a SUV is if your dog gets into a skunk. But I haven't had that happen for over 10 years. I wouldn't let that deter me from getting a SUV. I like having my dog inside, especially in bad weather.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
