What are your favorite hunting camp meals?

If I had to feed twenty hunters, I think, I would hire a proffesional Chuck Wagon Camp Cook and let him figure it out.

But for me, Breakfast: breakfast burritos, coffee, Lunch (in the field): dried or cured meats, hard cheese’s, Dinner: pot of beans, braised meat.

Seriously, keep it simple. Some meals are really simple to prepare and guaranteed to be a hit. Use only very small dash of salt, pepper and garlic on any prepared dish. Let the eater add as they wish. If logistics and facilities allow, plan for, over maybe a 5 day camp, at least one super meal. Nice cut of rib eye or T-bone and baked potato with butter, sour cream and corn on the cob and some garlic bread/toast. For dessert even a pre-baked pie or cobbler can be heated in camp. Grill steak on hardwood coals or char coal. If facilities allow, vanilla ice cream for topper on heated pie or cobbler. Also, some like to add a little zip to their meals including steak …. or eggs in the morning. My favorite is cleaned, roasted and ready to eat Hatch green chile, med hot, either chopped or whole slabs. I like frozen packs of Young Guns brand, not the canned or bottled. I think it may also be found under 505 brand?

S: lamb/pork chops, cucumber salad, brown rice and beans
Does this menu come with a gift certificate for bypass surgery? :D

Breakfast - Tacos made with pancakes filled with eggs, cheese and choice of meat. Or make pancake breakfast sandwiches. Fresh fruit on the side. I love pancakes.

Lunch - Burrito style sandwiches with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, mustard/mayo and cheese. Panini press them and serve. Love sandwiches too!

Dinner - Who doesn’t want steak and brisket when in Texas?

Breakfast

STRONG French roast black coffee

Breakfast taco or Huevos ala Mexicana

Venison pan sausage & biscuits

Lunch - sandwiches, tacos, BBQ

Dinner - depends on the camp

if someone puts pigs in the cooler, pork ribs and roast

Fried fish is easy to produce in volume.

Enchiladas and King Ranch Chicken casserole are easy to prepare in large volume ahead of time and most folks like them

Deer chili with cornbread, side salad and peach cobbler is my favorite

Hamburgers are another easy to prep large volume meal

Venison stroganoff is a hit and easy to make in large volume, but needs to be served promptly once finished.

Steaks are popular

My rule is if anyone complains about a meal that translates to they are in charge of the next day’s meals. Unsurprisingly everyone chirps about how good the meal is.

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc
