How well rounded is your cartridge collection?

In terms of which cartridges you own, do you have everything covered from ground hog to bull elephant?

I try to avoid as much overlap as possible and tend to “skip” every other caliber class, with a few exceptions.

I currently own:

22LR
223/5.56
6.5x55
7.62x39
308
30.06
338 WM
9mm
38 spl / 357 Mag
375HH
416 Rigby
45-70
458 Win Mag
470 NE
12g

See any obvious gaps?
All I see is
not 9.3x62
not 9.3x62
not 9.3x62
not 9.3x62
not 9.3x62
not 9.3x62

My current collection, including a couple that are on their way and not in hand yet

22 wmr
22lr
257 weatherby
25 stalker (257-338 norma improved)
30-06
300 Allen xpress (300-338 lapua improved)
416 rigby

Ones I’d like to add to the mix:

6.5x55 ruger RSI (yes I see the one in the classifieds :( but I don’t have the free funds right now)
375 h&h Winchester 70
7x57/275 rigby undecided rifle
35 Whelen (may end up just re boring or barreling my 30-06 Winchester 70 to this)

I don’t know why I don’t own a .223 yet, but I really don’t feel any desire for one either. I also don’t own any handguns, I just really like rifles

Edit: to add 12 guage, 20 gauge, and 410 bore

12Ga (5) (The single shot is the "truck gun". It has an accompanying lock box filled with various lengths of 12ga shells of varying shot and buckshot sizes. Also Foster style slugs. It also has a .410 adapter and the box has varying .410 shells. It also has a 22LR adapter and the box has a box of CCI Velocitor cartridges. I feel that this firearm and ammo selection allows me to handle any reasonable injured wildlife found along the highway. (Of course one must obtain permission from the local game warden/sheriff.)
We're counting handgun cartridges? I need to add.

22LR (2) Ruger 22/45 Lite and S&W Mod 41 (2 barrels: 5" and 7" with brake)

I have a bit of a problem. I don't have a 257 Roberts nor a 25-06.

Can't think of many others I'm missing between 17 HMR and 505 Gibbs ;)

I think I have it covered from mice to elephant.
I am always looking for more though. You never know when you might need a new rifle to hunt on the odd Thursdays of the season during the rut.

Let's remember that coverage includes the range of projectile weights possible in the calibers represented--there may be more coverage than meets the eye, for example, between light--heavy 7x57 or 30'06 rounds.
Presently
177 pellet
22lr (4)
22WMR (1)
7x57 (1)

8x57 (3)
375 H&H (1)

9mm parabelum
12 ga. (2)
16 ga. (3)
Have loader and components for .410 so...

I think my potential gaps are:
long range (fast 30--340 WBY range) and only accurate rifles are interesting
223 for between 22WMR and light 7mm
Not excited about +375 at this point given age/eyesight concerns
No real complaints

I have tried really hard to reduce my number of calibers from what I used to have, but cover most use case scenarios. However, reading the lists here made me count my own and realize that while I felt like I had "just a few" calibers. I actually have about 15. I guess I didn't do that great of a job.

To be fair, that's rifles, pistol, and shotguns.

I kept having to go back and edit it, just realizing how many I have.

Yeah, I'll be honest and say I don't want to count too well or the number might go up and make me feel even worse. hahaha.

I was going down the road of collecting lots of calibers for a while there. But then I decided to sell my less used calibers and only keep some very common calibers. My thinking is that I would rather have less calibers on hand and way more ammo for each caliber vs lots of calibers with a few boxes of ammo for each.

I reload and make brass, if I had too, so have a couple hundred or more brass for each one.

No gaps in my hunting rifle collection. And I have no real NEED for anything else. If I were pressed, maybe a 257WBY would be nice.
