How many of you use QD rings

I have them on a couple rifles but never use them, now that I am in my late 80s my eye sight is poor and i cannot not use open sights efficiently anyway.

Over the decades have helped out on follow ups for other hunters and just used scope on lowest power. When shots needed always glad I had the scope. Who knows what the situation will be. Shake the dice so to speak

All of my rifles have QD rings/mounts.

On the Blaser R8 rifles I have one Blaser QD mount and three from Contessa. My AR has an INNOMOUNT that I absolutely love and would probably choose those over the others if I had to do it over again.

I dismount my scope after every range session to for cleaning/maintenance. No reason to put oil and solvents next to Swaro optics. They also get removed for travel. All of them hold perfect zero.

I don't have a rifle that isn't QD. Recknagel, G & H, Talley, all 3 work as advertised

I have a number of Blaser QD mounts but no experience with the Contessa or INNOMOUNT. Why do you prefer that one?

The INNOMOUNT took the Blaser QD mount to the next level. INNOMOUNT uses a metric Allen key to set the tension instead of a slotted screwdriver. The locking levers pop out instead of rotating so there is nothing to hit a turret like I've seen a few people complain about. They are also less expensive than the Blaser option. They are not quite as "quick" as the Contessa and Blaser mounts, but still very good.

Bought mine through Titanium Gun Works in Germany. First rate customer service and he sent along a box of chocolates for us to enjoy as well. If I wasn't already zeroed on all my other mounts, I'd switch to INNOMOUNT in a heartbeat.

The Contessa mount is very good, locks up like a bank vault and quick to remove the optic if necessary. Quicker than both the Blaser and INNOMOUNT.

EDIT - I don't use rings for my centerfire rifle scopes; they are all rail-mounted scopes that mate directly to the QD mount.

Left side of the INNOMOUNT that flips out.

Right side of the INNOMOUNT that has buttons to push to pop out the little wings on the opposite side. Allen key slot sets the tension.

Well rats...just when I wanted to stop spending $ on Blaser...now this.

I have Talley & Warne QD rings on most every rifle I own. I own a lot more rifles and scopes and will sometimes use one rifle for awhile and then use another rifle for the next 6 months and just swap the scopes between the 2 rifles. A quick trip to the range and I’m back in business

Warne QD rings on both my 98 Mauser 404 DGR and 30-06 Springfield 03A3 deer/plains game rifle. Good for thick stuff, bad weather, and backup option if scope fails. What's not to like? Also nice to take the scope off that thumper gun when working up loads at the range.

INNOMOUNT QD mount operation...

I have Talley bases with QD rings on my .375 wby. I used it last trip to South Africa and had no issues.
I’ve been practicing with it constantly for a month getting ready for the next trip-on again and off again between the two scopes. One a dg scope the other for plains game, both for different bullets.
Have had no issues with staying in zero and really love the set up. Am only shooting off sticks or off hand, not off the sled at this point. Lots of good reasons to use QD bases and rings-I wouldn’t hesitate to use another set.

I don’t normally shoot glass bottles but I was helping finish off someone else’s trash and a full beer bottle was too good to pass up!

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Please tell me that when you say “full beer bottle” you mean intact and empty. Shooting a defenseless full beer is a crime in these parts!

Coors-so could be beer or could be urine, . . ;)

I have Talley QD rings and bases on my 375 H&H, 416 Rem and 404Jeffery. I have never had an issue with them not holding zero after taking them off and putting them back on. Take the scopes off for travel and keep them in my carry on. Also have an extra scope, that’s also zeroed and in the appropriate rings I take so that if I do have an issues with my primary scope, I have a back up. Had worked well for me so far.

I have Talley QD's on my CZ550 .416. But, as others have said, with a 1.5-5X scope, there aren't too many reasons to routinely remove them. In very thick nasty stuff for a follow-up I would, but I'd want to shoot again after re-mounting to verify zero.

I’ve got Talley QD’s on my 375 and my 416… every other rifle I own (with the exception of the MSRs and the muzzleloaders has Warne Maximas..

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
