Hippo mount

Got pics of the animal and the kill?

It looks sadly fake

What’s sad is this question and comment…

It wouldn’t have taken much effort to see in Franco’s media and posts/reports he’s taken many DG and more than one Hippo. Why the hell would you assume he would be the type of person to fake something like this once in a lifetime Hippo? BTW, this type of ambush and blatant shitting on reputable hunters posts is in really poor taste!

An awesome untypical, never seen anything even close to that.

Congrats and thanks for sharing !

Thanks brother for covering my back.

WOW!!!!! That is a hippo of a lifetime, congratulations! I believe you did justice to this hippo by doing a shoulder mount, well done! BTW, I didn't know that the taxidermists didn't use the real tusks.

And to the non-believer, where are you? Look at @Franco media and you'll see a picture of the animals (Hippo) he has taken.

What a unique trophy. I’ve never seen a hippo like it. The shoulder mount in conjunction with the skull makes a great display.

It sort of sounds like you are accusing him of making up that he got that hippo, which seems like a weird thing to do.

He has posted pictures of this hippo to the site in the past.

Not at all, just an extremely different looking animal.

As Sabre stated; pictures of the animal were posted after the hunt. I've got better things to do than fake a hippo - unless you're referring to the taxidermy job.
That’s what I was referring to was the mount/skin.

I’m very picky when it comes to taxidermy. Croc and hippos and cats are a true test.

Congrats on a very unique hippo a true trophy

That's just wicked ass cool! Hats off to you sir for a fine damn trophy.

The elephant and giraffe skulls in the background of the hippo skull had me knowing @Franco is a serious hunter. Yes I had a zoomed in look at that also.

Great mounts.

Such a cool trophy. Was there any speculation about what may have caused the "deformity"? I cant think of a better word so I apologize, but something had to start those teeth out of alignment. An injury makes sense, but it would have had to be truly traumatic to impact the entire side of the jaw. I bet the discussion around the camp fire after you shot it was fascinating. Was the outfitter aware of this particular animal before you shot him?

It's just a fantastic hippo!
The case when a congenital deformity or an acquired defect is valued almost above trophy quality.

I was just impressed he has a full time servant at his house. Seen in the first set of photos.

Question @Franco. Is it a heavy mount? And I'm assuming the walls are reinforced to support the weight of the mount.

What a special trophy! Your taxidermist did a nice job.

The tusks really make a statement. I bet you the PH and the tracking team couldn't quit smiling for a week.

Heck just looking at it I will be smiling for a week. Thank you for sharing.

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
