AH members and enablers...it is done. First double rifle is paid for and being shipped after Christmas. Many of you here provided the knowledge and experience needed for this purchase and I am very grateful for the information.

I always kept an eye out looking for the deal and was patient. A few deals fell thru over the last few months and I began speaking with Smith's about a shotgun conversion build. I had decided on an O/U as my personal preferences leaned that way. However, a rifle popped up that was also everything I had wanted, in a SXS.

A 2019 Sabatti Big Five EDL in 470NE. Regulated for Barnes and shoots the TBBC just as well, about 1" spread at 50 yards, ejectors, nice looking engraving, good wood, and came with pile of extras and only a few rounds down the tubes.

Congrats and best of luck hunting!

Congrats on joining the club! I still sit on the sidelines trying to find that right combination of caliber, style, reliability, and oh yes, price point. Glad to see your own success!

Super exciting! Congrats

If the optic came with the rifle you've got a very good scope coming. I have on on my 45-70 and swear by it.

Congrats! Great looking double.

Congratulations on the amazing purchase . What ammunition to you plan to use in your .470 Nitro Express calibre rifle ? Federal ?

Congrats on the new purchase!!

TTundra, if that shoots as good as it looks, you’ve got yourself a fine double! Very handsome tool!

Nice looking double. I wish you much success with it!

Beautiful double and classic caliber.
Congratulations.

I'd be interested to know (when you get the rifle) what you think of the Contessa scope mount.

Enjoy and watch out for the scope bite!

Congrats!

Have one on a 450 marlin as well. Surprising tough and repeatable on heavy hitters!

I'll see how well I do with the barnes regulated loads, Federal, and might try some others that I'll load up to compare. I think all good options though.

Thank you! I was quite happy with those aesthetics!

Congratulations.

Yes, one of the very nice add-ons included. From everything I read it should be perfect, but I'll be sure to test the repeatability with detaching and reattaching.

Enjoy and watch out for the scope bite!

Yes, definitely will shoot quite a bit with the scope detached before practicing with it in place...ha!

Congrats on the new addition!

Very nice, enjoy! Those sabattis look like you get a whole lot of value for the price, I couldnt find one for sale when I was looking for a double.

I'm impatiently awaiting my first double to arrive to my FFL!

Very, nice! Now it needs to set it sights or crosshairs on a buffalo!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
