Fire at Woodliegh?

I for one would be happy to "Pre-Order" and or contribute to a GoFundMe to help Woodleigh up and running again. I'd also like to give our Aussie members a "Big Shout Out" for keeping us current on this matter.

if there was a $$ goal to help them get back to speed, a GoFundMe could be setup and the word spread widely. Would there be 1000 hunting enthusiasts willing to give $500/250/100 to help rebuild a bullet company? Would half a million bucks get them back up and running? Quarter million?

I’ve seen people get ridiculous amounts of money via crowdfunding. The hurdle is what Woodleighs desire is. The world is a new place, we need to think in new ways.

Section 5 "
  1. knives, explosives, ammunition, firearms, or other weaponry or accessories".

Then someone setup an escrow account.

Lots of lawyers / accountants around the gun world.

Just the idea of crowdfunding. We don’t have to use an anti-gun platform.

Maybe @Pheroze can chime in I think he is a lawyer but I could be wrong.

I think we let insurance rebuild what they had. I hope they had adequate insurance.

I'm all for them and hoping they reopen. I hope the business stays in Australia and prospers no matter what the owners decide.

If it's a certainty that they will be in production and can take orders I have no problem with placing an order.

I think it's an insurers responsibility to rebuild.

Charity starts at home. $50 or $1000, most have family or know someone who could use the money more than our selves.

I'm not wealthy but I am comfortable. If oi put money up it's gonna be product or shares.

I feel Go Fund Me is better suited where families face crisis or medical emergency.

I wish the owners of Woodleigh all the best and I hope Shirley is recovered or recovering well. I hope they can re-establish what they had even if it's just to sell it as a going concern.

This is definitely bad news. I have read the fire started in the roof of the office due to rats chewing on electric wiring and most/all the drawings were lost. Not sure.

The Hydros are made else where, Geoff is just the marketing part of the Hydro's so they should not dry up for too long.

I hear Shirley is out of Hospital and alright. I too hope Geoff gets things back up and running but he is in his 70's and running a farm as well.

I received an email reply from Shirley McDonald,

They appreciate our interest and support.

Rebuilding is under consideration once they have a better grip on the situation.

Shirley will update the website as things progress.

Best crowdfunding site for this is givesendgo . They are a Christian, right leaning ,fundraiser site.

Donated for a couple of causes on their site. Google them, they are legit

I too received an email from Geoff, thanking me for my concern and said that Shirley was out of the hospital and home. He also stated that rebuilding would take a while. Given that statement, it sounds like Woodleigh bullets will be available in the future.

They have always been great with communication.
If you email with an enquiry they always get back to you. On one occasion where they could not help they still replied to advise the same.

Very sad to hear about the fire, a great Australian product lets hope they rebuild . Taipan bullets an other Australian bullet manufacture has also gone out of business . I was waiting to purchase some 318 WR 250 grain from woodleigh. i found 4 boxes on line & purchased them. & 2 boxes of 333 Jeffery 250 grain i have run them through a lee 329 sizer die & results were excellent they measure .330 on the button .Also tried some 200 grain 338 Speer hot core through the same die, lubed with wheel bearing grease & pushed through with an hydraulic press they also look good & measure .330 so all is not lost for you 318 Westley Richards users

This is how much I love Woodleigh and that's only my 458 inventory. I also have 200 Woodleigh projectiles for my 470 and 100 left for my 30-06. So sad what's happened, I have always been a big supporter of Woodleigh and will continue to be in the future if they rebuild.

@Aussie hunter If you have any .375H&H 350grain Woodleigh FMJ that you would be willing to let go, I'm all ears! :D

The fire at Woodleigh is most unfortunate and I wish Geoff and Shirley all the best whichever direction they choose. Nonetheless I stocked up on Woodleigh bullets as best I could. Hopefully this is a lifetime supply for my .500 Nitro Express. My 9.3 x 62 just loves the 320 grain Woodleigh Weldcore.
