Going on my third year finally got my tusks and Ear with map back!!! While small, they mean the absolute world to me and thrill me greatly. I especially love the wooden map of Africa on the bases. The map on the ear came out as well.

They look great! Where did you take the elephant, did you do a hunt report on the trip?

Congrats!

I wasn't following before, but what was the reason for delay?

Thanks everyone! I have no idea of the length. I can tell you they ended up being about 13 pounds. While I am pleased with the final results done by Collett my lessons learned are as follows:
1. Don't just pick the taxidermist, also know who their shipper is.
2. My real problems were with the shipper...just getting my email wrong almost cancelled the entire shipment!!!!
3. A callout to Coppersmith...they were the ones who caught the shipper mess up and they did a great job for me!!!

Yes, I have a hunt report on here just search for Rare Breed then Elephant.

Very cool, I’m glad you went through the hassle and worry to get them completed and back to your home

I think they look great but more importantly, they trigger a flood of memories for you! I love how the ear turned out. Looks fantastic.

Wow! I should have mine soon too. I think I may have very similar bases. My taxidermist has them and waiting on bases. Hoping 6-8 weeks.

Ears are at tanner. Who did your map artwork? That’s where I need to go next.

Looks great!

Very nice! Congratulations!

Great to hear you finally got your shipment back to the house.
Ours landed in Chicago last Saturday so hoping to make the drive down to get the crate in the next 3 weeks.
Coppersmith 100% saved my ele shipment from getting rejected thats for sure. The devil is in the details and especially so when dealing with ivory importation.

I know some have gotten the paperwork done without hiring a professional service but I just wouldn't risk it. Paperwork/emails can get lost while regs change slightly and you're out of luck. Nothing about ivory is easy/cheap but it's worth hiring the professionals who deal with it daily and know everyone.

I can’t wait to see yours given you took a big boy!!!!
Along with the ivory, we did a set of molded replicas and retained the mold castings just in case.
Other then the above, we did a pair of footstools from the ele, 1 ear painting and the other ear as tanned leather.
Really hoping the ear painting came our with the same fine detail as yours.
Again, im glad you got it home...finally.

Truer words were never spoken!!!

Very nice! Love the ear map

Congratulations my friend.

...on a successful hunt and getting the trophy back.
