Finally Got My Elephant Back!!!

I know some have gotten the paperwork done without hiring a professional service but I just wouldn't risk it. Paperwork/emails can get lost while regs change slightly and you're out of luck. Nothing about ivory is easy/cheap but it's worth hiring the professionals who deal with it daily and know everyone.
Conservation Force + Coppersmith is the only way to go on these.

Congrats they look great. I have a couple questions, Why the 3 yr wait and if you don't mind sharing the cost of shipment back to the states ? The ear and tusks only items shipped?

Congratulations!!! so happy for you to have your memories finally home.

Like the look of the bases on your desk.

The ear map is special.

Congratulations! I’m sure there was a sigh of relief when they arrived. Seeing those tusks on your desk and the ear on the wall, will certainly bring back the memories of the hunt
I love the bases for those hard earned tusks and the ear map is exquisite. I’ll probably never shoot an ele, but I can admire vicariously thru trophies like yours.

Congrats on finally receiving your trophies from the hunt. Stunning work by the Taxidermist. Thanks for the thumbs up for Coppersmith as well. That gave me confidence in them as I had somewhat randomly chosen them to handle my crate of mounts from a PG hunt in 2024 that just arrived in Atlanta last week. We expect them to clear customs in a few days. I loved the idea of the Ear/Map - that turned out so good.

May I ask who the shipper was? and if you would recommend them or not? I have another crate coming soon from my 2025 DG hunt and am thinking of using a different shipper.

Coppersmith charged $2100 for importing and processing for 2 tusk and elephant year?

Shipping $1700 was size crate and weight.

That very expensive

Without question. It’s not the taxi that is expensive it is the storage and shipping. Don’t know why but I had trouble just getting it to the US so they called and said they could first get it to ORD first get US inspection then fly to ATL versus direct to ATL…don’t ask me why. Today you really have to want taxi to put up with the hassles and cost. Thankful now except for my leopard (hopefully) no more taxi for me just pictures and albums!

Agreed but ele taxidermy in States is expensive. Tanning is over $40/sq ft with long waits…stabilizing ivory so it doesn’t break at thin bases, etc plus high costs of shipping.

I’ve heard coppersmith can be more expensive depending on the port it’s being shipped into. They don’t own their own storeage areas at certain ports. I would give a call to Matt Myers he did a great job with my leopard and i didn’t get charged extra for storage l.
