I bought a collection from a very dear friend that hung up his hat a long time ago and will never go back to Africa. His DG gun is a custom 416 Remington magnum built on a Double Square, Bridge Mauser action by Flaigs custom rifles in Pennsylvania. Do an Internet search on them and you’ll see that there were quite a few positive reviews on their work over the years.

A traditional stock, sharp checkering, model 70 type safety, barrel band and topped with a Leopold Vari X III 1.5 to 5. The LOP is 13 5/8 inches, barrel is 23.5”and muzzle brake 2” for an overall barrel length of 25.5 inches.

The overall condition of this rifle is excellent, he hunted with it on one safari, then it sat in the safe for the next 35 years. He recalls it shot very well however did not remember what factory rounds he used. I have not fired the rifle personally.

I have a pretty extensive stable full of DG rifles so wanted to offer this one up to y’all first before going to GB.

If that's really a magnum double square bridge german mauser action in that gun (or a belgian) the action, bottom metal, and stock is worth what you're asking easily. Just throw the scope and barrel away if you don't like the caliber, make it into anything.

Definitely sort out if that is the case and if its magnum length. It will sell here in minutes if that fact can be verified.

Thanks for the input @rookhawk. Excuse my ignorance but I am lacking in Mauser action knowledge.
How can I verify your queries?

I’m no expert, but it starts by taking it apart and photographing the proofs and odd stamps of the action. There are websites to decipher by marks and action lengths what it is. It may be more valuable than you anticipated based on what you learn.

Thanks, I am out of town for a few days but will take it apart and look for proof marks.

will also measure magazine well and overall length is the action and post next week.

At one time Bauska's were made in korea. Then a company in Oregon bought them out. Then started making them in US. When Lago guns started becoming popular, they stoped the Magnum Mauser actions.

I have seen quite a few Flaig's rifles over the years come up for sale. This is the first DGR I have seen by them that I can recall. I had a 264 I regret selling...it was stupid accurate.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
