Do you go afield with “hunting” or “nice” shotguns

Probably "Puppy's" last season (her official name is Coral). She had a softball size tumor removed next to her pancreas in January 2021. Prognosis was so grim they didn't recommend chemo. But here she is still hunting hard. What an inspiration.

The old A5 has seen a few operations too. Still killing birds and clays at 60+ years. It doesn't miss much. Shot more than fifty birds this season, including just five geese, and the only wasted shells I can count on both hands.

Whenever it’s time to go out on a hunt using a shotgun, do you usually take what I think most people would call a gun that is far too nice to use? Maybe like a fox, holland and holland, aya, kreighoff or whatever.

Or do you take what’s considered a more typical modern hunting shotgun? Like a benelli or Winchester and the like.

Perhaps you have 2 dozen shotguns that are a mix of both where each one has a specific quarry, condition, and phase of the moon.
Secondly, does traveling to different states or countries affect this decision?

I ask because I’ve no problem trudging through the briars and rain with something with costs into the 5 figures. Although I should point out another one of my favorite shotguns to hunt with is a savage 311a worth no more than a few hundred dollars. Really it depends on my mood.

But then I have a couple friends who won’t go out to the duck blind because there’s a chance of rain and their day would be nearly ruined if so much as a drop gets on their beretta a400.
I always take all my guns hunting or I do not buy them though nothing wrong for those who simply want to buy nice guns to hold and look at just bit me. My favorite shotgun is my Beretta Silver Hawk 12 gauge sxs

I was hunting Saturday with 12 ga. Funk drilling, and everybody kept asking me if I had trouble shooting a side by side. They didn't notice I was hitting 50% and they were hitting less than 25.

I did see a CZ O/U that was light as a feather! Didn't even know they made one.

People ooh and aah when I hunt with a drilling, while they are toting auto shotguns that they actually paid more money for....strange times. Did you ever think you would see auto shotguns sell for today's prices?
