I have been down this road wit Dentler before, and I felt like it was a solid product.

I sold the set with a rifle I owned about 3 years ago and now I am thinking about going back into it. Mostly because I shoot such a variety of rifles that are not Blasers and I am still shooting my Blasers quite a bit.

There are also scopes that are in the upper price point, I'd like to use on multiple rifles.

I also have a rifle scope I use for load development, it is a big 34mm 5-25x56 so I can see my groups. I don't hunt with it.

I think I would have about a 2500 Euro outlay to completely get out of Blaser scope mounts and switch. I think I'd recover about 70% of that selling the Blaser mounts I have.

Is there another better system?

I like my Dentler. I'm trying to get my hands on a Dentler mount for my Merkel K3. I haven't heard of a better system. Maybe it's out there, but they certainly weren't at Jagd und Hund.

Do you think that is because their rifle is an epic shit, and they would be laughed out of Dortmund?

They should have released the blochbuchs rifle they were showcasing years ago. Maybe it was also a shit-show.

Frankonia probably has them in their store near you.

I think Living Active also does.

The big place is Optics Trade in Slovenia. I have bought most of my stuff from them.

I have also called Dentler with good luck.

K3's Dentler bases are in stock at Frankonia.

the problem is that it would take me 3500 Euros to swap everything I own to Dentlers. Maybe that level of compatibility isn't necessary.

I think I must have been misunderstood. Certainly, Dentler was in Dortmund. I spoke with them there. I'm a huge Dentler fan, and I don't know of anything "better" than Dentler, and saw nothing better than Dentler when I was last in Dortmund.

Since then, I've moved much farther west, and my "nearest" Frankonia is over 10,000 klicks away.

When I was in Germany this time last year, Frankonia was out of stock. So that wasn't any help at all. Maybe next time I'm in town.

If you already have scopes for the Blasers, and scopes for others, not sure it's worth changing. Advantages of the Dentler are:

I have several scopes I can use on one rifle (which is my Styer Classic II). I trade them off depending on the situation.

-OR-

You can use one scope on multiple rifles.

If you already have scopes on your Blasers, and scopes on others, I'm not sure you would benefit from making them all the same. But if you wanted to use a scope you have on another rifle on a Blaser, you would have to change that.

Oh, and I really like my K3. So I don't know where the hate is coming from there.

Oh, forgot to add: Yes, Merkel was at Dortmund.

You must not know about Dentler's rifle. That is the shit show. Not the K3.

Dentler made a really overly complicated bull pup rifle for driven hunts. Except it took about 8 hands to operate and was 5000 Euros. Also weighed 9 pounds.

They are selling so bad that Frankonia is dumping them at 50% off.

About as gay as the Jakele rifle and the requirement to do something with your non-shooting fingers while you pull the trigger.

By comparison the new Walther (still ugly) but works like at traditional rifle, just in bull pup format.

OK, I'll say it out loud.

I'll take the Jakele over the Blaser any day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

Magne-tech make a base attaching to a picatinny rail. The rings, a one piece system, then attach to this. Optics planet stock them. It could be an answer.

Gross no!

What bothers me the most about it, is that Ortho and Ergo for the Jakele suck.

The stock is narrow in the face (ouch).

The butt stock is really too long.

Then your hand has to do things it should not have to do.

This is what sexy looks like. The stock on the Jakele sucks as well.

That looks like something an Imperial Storm Trooper would use.

And the cocking/decocking system on the Jakele is superior. I've seen both. I've played with both.

I'll admit a bias... I know some of the guys who work at Jakela.

You're in a good position. You have options. If I were you, I'd look very hard at MAK. It's the modern evolution of the Dentler concept. But if you can get a good deal on used Dentler gear, that's a solid, proven path.

There is not a single thing I like better about Jakele.

Except it is lighter than the R8 is.

Kind of popular rifle here with the American hunters. A lot of it has to do with the American kid that works for Jakele.

I am not drinking the COOLAID.

The ergonomics on the R8 are better.

No rifle in the world works like a Jakele, so there isn't any retained knowledge if you are using it.

You have to either unlearn a typical rifle to use a Jakele, or completely get rid of everything else.

It forces you hand to do an unnatural thing.

To me the stock design is too narrow. The comb is too narrow.

It is 900 grams lighter. Of course mine has a big 34mm scope and a semi-weight barrel. so I am about 1800 grams heavier. With my lightweight scope and a standard 6.5 CM barrel the weight with my FBT stock is less than the Jakele.
