CZ 550 Buy. How bad did I just mess up?

You did well, could have easily gone for 3000. I got a NIB one back in May for $1500, right time right place.
I.n the wee night hours, you made a good choice for the CZ 550 416 Rigby. These won’t be around for long.
My first love for a big rifle was a CZ 550 American, I polished and tuned up.

@RAVEN ROCKS PRECISION can help you with ammo and brass.

Redding dies, some bullets and slow burning powder and you are off to the races.

Pictures please

Wow! Nice pick up. I know zero about CZ’s but my Interarms .375H&H has a nastier bite than my Dakota 76 .416 Rigby.

I think you did very well.

I like mine! Well done. Now get some great glass on it and go shoot something nasty. :)

That rifle is a keeper and will serve you well. I have a stable of 6 CZ-550 Safari Magnum rifles in various calibers. Believe it or not, I was online last night looking specifically for one in .416, but you must have scooped it up before I saw it.

If the recoil turns out to be to much, just add a scope, mounts, a little weight, and a thicker recoil pad to it. Resist the temptation to chop the barrel or add a muzzle brake, as these can lower it's resale value.

Keep it original and in good shape, and there will always be buyers here.
Great to know! Will do. If it’s crazy recoil I’ll definitely come here to let you know. That’s wild that you were on the same listing.

I think I saw one with laminate stock but it was way more expensive.

It’s crazy, I worked at RSR Group for 16 years and I remember these things would come in sometimes by half a pallet. Just never cared at that time because I was into long range! Don’t remember what distributor cost was back then.

I will post pics as soon as it comes in. I ordered some of the trash cans with bullets seated in them that are .416 Rigby cartridges lol

I have the same, CZ 550 in .416 Rigby. You made a good choice but I have to ask at that time of day and with GunBroker was alcohol involved in the decision making?

Hahaha believe it or not, none! That’s worse huh? To be fully sober AND irresponsible. All I can blame it on is lack of sleep at this point.

And getting keyed up on buffalo hunting videos.

Have watched some videos and appears to have a nice thump to it. Not as bad as .458 Lott though

I have one with the factory synthetic stock and barrel cut to 22 or 23 inches..can't remember at moment.....I have had at least one 416 rigby since 1989....I have never thought it was that bad with recoil....think mine weighs bout 9 5lbs....and no probs....problem to me is when you lot over there start reloading it to higher velocity than original specs...which isn't needed ....my AHR 550 in 404 in both it's wood stock and the synthetic one I got for it ...same as factory one ...booted me more than the 416 for some reason....so don't be frightened of it...no reason to be....now you can put the 375 thing in the back of the safe and let it hibernate....;):D Beers:

Ps it's nowhere near a lott
