Anyone have any contacts for Austria. I’d like to avoid the booking agents and Luxury hotels and talk direct to the Game manager/pro hunter/landowner and arrange a trip for this fall. One day I’d like to hunt Ibex but I’ll dip my toe in Europe for a chamois

I have hunted Fallow Stag, Chamois. Sika, Capercaillie, and wild boar with him in Austria. Next year we will hunt roe deer in Hungary. Can not recommend them more highly. In each of the previous hunts we extended it into a wonderful vacation.

Salzburg and Vienna are as amazing as the hunting.

I have contacted them twice recently regarding ibex hunting.
Once they answered that they don't do it, the second time (I found a specific offer on their own website!) they didn't even answer.

For Chamonix - try to ask @pimes ?

If anyone has direct contact with a hunter/professional hunter/landowner regarding ibex hunting, I would also appreciate it. Thank you.

Hunting In Austria, Miesenbach is who I hunted with. Klemens is always at DSC and SCI and provides a very good service for his clients. I hunted Ibex and wild boar.

I’ve seen the great hunting reports from members here but I have contacted Elio (booking agent) before and when I start asking specific questions and we try and narrow down dates and additional costs. The communication breaks down on his end. And maybe that’s just translation. But again booking agent.

It is hard to say. You don't see fences there but I am sure there are some Due to the trophy quality they have.

would love more info on your trip! My wife and I were wanting to visit praugue and veinna but could be persuaded to go a slightly different route. how hard was the fallow hunting? That is a beautiful fallow! Did you post a report?

Even through the fog of my jet-lagged gaze, I marveled just as I had some forty-five years ago at the picturesque cleanliness of the Austrian countryside. Rolling hills topped with dark woods were like islands in the small orderly fields that surrounded them. One postcard like medieval village followed another with the occasional castle brooding in the distance. Drivers drove like they meant it, but with care and consideration. In the two plus weeks we were there, including extended stays in Salzburg and Vienna, we heard a horn exactly once, and never ever saw a single piece of trash...

As we edged uphill through the sodden trees and cold fog below the cliff face, I was feeling all of my nearly seven decades and the six-thousand feet of altitude. I thought to myself that I really was getting a bit old for climbing around the Carinthian Alps looking for a small brown mountain goat. A fresh blast of wind driven light rain served to underscore that conclusion. I had at least finally slid into the "one more step" pattern familiar to many who have contoured a steep mountain slope.

This hunt truly begins in the early spring of 1977. A small group of friends stationed in Northern Bavaria decided to take two-days leave in conjunction with a weekend and head off to Kitzbuhel, Austria for four days of skiing before a pending summer training deployment to Grafenwöhr.

If @Red Leg says it’s good sport for fair prices, I’d take that as a very credible reference. He has spent a lot of time hunting Central Europe and has done a tremendous amount of due diligence.
