Hey guys,
I am trying to put my first Africa Safari together and I need some help. I'm new here, having discovered this site thru another hunting site, thanks to tap.
I have begun working a 28/28 rotation off the west coast of Africa due to a transfer within my company and the fact that my transportation from the US to Africa & back is paid for by them has made it feasible for me to make the lifelong dream of hunting Africa come true. I believe that I have found the perfect first Safari with Kanana, & I want to do this ASAP, but in order to make it happen around my schedule, I must move fast - and now.
Here is my situation:
I hit the ground in Luanda, Angola around midday on Thursday, August 2nd from my four weeks hitch offshore. I would need to be back there exactly 2 weeks later (Thursday, August 16) to fly home. Therefore, I would schedule my hunt between August 2 thru 16, with sufficient travel time before & after the hunt to get from Luanda to Kanana headquarters & then back to catch my 9pm flight home on the 16th.
Anyway, my biggest challenge in planning the trip thusfar is getting from the airport in Luanda, to Jason's place at Kanana and then back. I'm sure this is probably simple for some of you guys who have traveled around in-country, but I have only worked a couple of hitches there so far, and we basically either fly straight home from the aiport where the helicopter drops us off, or get transported via car by our agent if needed.
I plan to contact Lori with Travel Express who advertises here, but I'm hoping that someone can share their personal experience and knowledge with me.
I mainly need to nail down the details of planning flights from Luanda to Maun, and then getting from Maun to Kanana, and of course the reverse route after the hunt.
I realize that there are many other considerations in planning for the trip, and I am completely open to any and all advice anyone has to offer.
Thank You all,
Jeff
