This scope is about as 1958 as you can get, if you want period correct for a pre 64 Winchester model 70 standard action. The bases are for standard actions .860 front and rear spacing. Scope old and worn with yellowing. Bases are in good shape with screws. 200$ shipped for the bases and scope. No OEM BOX

For what it is worth, the glass in these old Bausch & Lomb scopes is superior to almost anything made at that time and is on par with the best of today. They had a source of nearly pure quartz sand in the Pittsburgh area and it produced glass of exceptional optical clarity. Most of this was used to make camera lenses for the U2 and SR71 spy planes but when a large lense had an occlusion they cut it up to make rifle scopes.

I put one on my 1963 FN Browning Mauser in 308 for my first Safari and it worked like a dream. I even night hunted with it on two evenings and it was clear enough to see animals at 180y in the dark. If you like the vintage look but do not want to be handicapped in the field, then one of these is a great option. It is clunky to zero but holds zero well and can be removed and reinstalled and still maintain zero. It was designed to be able to use the same scope on multiple rifles.

This is how you chime in on a listing to add value. Thank you for the example.
LOL - I have two 6-24x Balvars on old Winchester 52 target rimfires and use them to compete in rimfire matches all the time and am never handicapped by the glass. They look like they were copied from Alien technology. Big, heavy, complex...

The first time I mounted one, I was bore sighting it in my back yard by looking at a can of Campbells soup. When I zoomed in on the can at 50y, I could read the label! Even the fine print. Stunning optics. Now we cannot do that with the little 2.5-8x hunting scope but it is still a good one.

I had one in 2.5 - 8X on a M70 in .270 Winchester back in the 80's. I loved the fine tapered crosshairs on the scope. As a young hunter I was very hard on my rifle back then hunting a lot in the mountains and I can say that I don't ever remember that scope losing zero one time. Brings back some good memories.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
