Average Roe Buck trophy price?

Hello, I’m seriously considering a Roe Deer hunt in France next month and have received a quote and was just wondering where it stacks up price wise compared to average, I tried to do some looking online but couldn’t find anything definitive.

Trophy fee for a the Roe Deer is $1300, is this high, low or average for France or elsewhere in Europe?

It really depends on the trophy expectation, region, and country. I don’t think that’s an unreasonable price. Areas that produce only modest bucks in Central Europe are the least expensive. Spain is probably the most expensive on average. Certain areas in places like Hungary or Sweden that produce huge bucks could cost you easily cost you 7 or 8 times that on a sliding scale.

It’s only a 1 day hunt, they pick me up the night before, I stay in their chateau and then we hunt the next day, if I don’t harvest a deer it won’t be the end of the world for me.

I’m sure Uk isn’t that expensive. I was lucky I had them in my permission when I used to live there. But I’m sure it’s not that much to hunt them in the uk. Trophy exporting is something I don’t have any experience in

There are some very very expensive roe bucks in UK. It depends the on the trophy potential in area and quota. Some areas are very inexpensive also.

IF you're stuck on France (sounds like you are) and you've got one day (Sounds like you do) and you want a Roe deer (Again,,,,,) and you are satisfied with he price of the service provided, then YES it's a great deal.

If you had more time and different countries or areas to hunt, etc then I'd look somewhere else, but I've always wanted to hunt France and I love Paris, so there's that.

BTW I'm hunting Chamois in Spain in November, Was looking for a France hunt, found a good one in Spain I want to go on, so I booked.

I am not very familiar with the pricing for Roe deers at various private estates, especially not around Paris, but for 1300 USD, they really ought to guarantee you a very fine trophy. Sure, there are higher prices for exceptional trophies, but generally speaking, the price for an average Roe deer trophy in France is more in the 500 Euros range.

I have never ever seen, or heard about a trophy fee for a roe buck at 1300 € !

For sure, it depends the place and around Paris, it is more complicated to find tags than in the southern part of France but it remains bloody expensive for a roe buck in France ! For a medal in UK or central part of Europe, it is a more common price but in France, even a gold medal is not sold at this price with classic outfitters. Most of them apply a flat rate regardless the size of the trophy.

I think they abuse with the price because you are "an American" and therefore take a huge commision, just my 2 cents !

The shooting fee for a roe buck across the country is usually between 250 and 400 €. Sometimes less and sometimes a bit more.

I pay 250 €/tag and whatever the size of the trophy.

It is very high. But depends on what minium CIC score they guarantee you. If it is just the flat rate for any buck it is crazy high.

I see some areas in Spain ask this but there the trophies are of amazing quality.

This below is Croatian standard pricing for roe deer. Goverment forestry company. Below that is cheap here, more than that expensive.

When you discuss price, you must know, what is CIC score for the trophy you plan to hunt.

1300 is for silver CIC medal here.

Best buy in my opinion is just below Bronze, which is the size I hunt.
Below bronze, it is still very nice, and very representative trophy.

So, if they say, 1300 no limit size, there is a grey zone that you could shoot bronze, but get charged for silver. There are areas with poor quality gene pool, which do not produce anything even close to medal. (my favorites) But if you end up there, you can pay this much, for something that is actually a mediocre size. Bottom line, it would be the best to define pricing per CIC score system,

Personally, I shoot up to 100 CIC points. Mostly between 80 to 100. 70 is also OK for me

That price is just the trophy fee, I would pay extra for day rate, rifle rental and round trip transportation from Paris. They said trophy fee is for any size, however they didn’t give me any size expectations

I believe it is fenced on their land, they said it’s for any size but didnt tell me what size to expect to be able to hunt

I think that's a lot for any trophy without a daily fee. This is my opinion and does not necessarily mean that I am right

Agree, if they do not guarantee you a really big buck for that trophy fees just don't do it. Lots of great outfitters.

Also when do you plan to hunt next month because if you hunt the end of August the rut is already over and buck activity will be low.

Can be, but usually only with people targeting foreign hunters at inflated pricing. You can hunt good quality roe bucks affordably in the UK.

Noah, I had assumed from your OP that the EUR 1.200,- included outing, transport & ON plus the trophy & I was going to say that's a pretty fair deal.

Reading your last posts this is just the trophy fee ! That's steep in my opinion.

But then again if you have the money & its something you want to do then hey ho ...... have a good time!

There’s definitely some commissions added but I think your pricing is unrealistic for a non-resident hunter. I’ve never seen 250 euro bucks in France advertised. Non-residents (particularly Americans) are going to have to hunt with those who advertise or use agents.

I’ve seen @grand veneur suggest this agency before. They are 700-900 Euro per buck in France.

I paid $1000 per buck in France so 870 euros at today’s exchange.

$1300 isn’t a cheap roe buck, but at the exchange rate it’s about 1150 euro. It’s not too far out of range in France.
