Anyone have misfire issues Reloading for Blaser rifles

Your brass is out of spec somewhere. If you bump the shoulder or neck size so many times, there is a time when you'll have to do a full resize of the brass and will probably have to be trim it as well. What @Mark A Ouellette showed is a fix to the bulge that occurs on belted cases.

Have you tried shooting those cartridges and ensuring the bolt was completely closed?

I just had a similar experiance with my K95. With some of my freshly reloaded cartridges the action either wouldn’t lock up or was very difficult to lock up. My mistake was only checking the shoulder bump. Turns out the neck shoulder junction had grown just enough on some cases to cause the problem. Don’t fully understand how or why, maybe something to do with the bushing die, don’t know.

I pulled the bullets and emptied the cases, removed the primer ejecter pin and turned the die down until the case slipped into the chamber and locked up easily. Problem solved.

Agreed!

I load for a Blaser S-2 in ..375 H&H. This helps in retaining case life for any belted magnum case, in any rifle. It also provides more usable case life for use in my S-2.

Belted magnum cased swell or get larger just ahead of the belt. Measure factory ammo or new brass and then measure brass that won't chamber in a Blaser and you will propably find a few thousands of an inch difference on the unusable brass.

Follow the directions and use a lot of Sizing Die Wax, never liquid or gel type case lube.

I don't know if these are still available since the maker, Larry Willis, has passed away.

"He was a proud Marine from 1970 to 1972 and an avid shooter even longer. He worked in the computer industry for over 20 years before chasing his true passion of inventing reloading tools. Through his own company, Innovative Technologies, he designed, patented, and manufactured multiple tools that he sold worldwide. The belted magnum collet resizing die, digital headspace gauge, and the wide view light reflector to name just a few."

His website was Innovative Technologies at LarryWillis.com I get a "Forbidden" with I try to search for it. If anyone knows where to buy these now, please share with all here.
These are the trick. I've owned one for many years. Bummer to hear that Larry passed away.

I have 4 Blaser R8 rifles and shoot hundreds of rounds through them every year. I have never had a misfire with them.

Not a Blazer, a Ruger.
I seen you reloaded some ammo with recently purchased CCI Small Rifle primers. I had/have the same problem using CCI small rifle primers in my 22 Hornet. I changed to strictly using Winchester Small Rifle Primers problem solved.

I have been reloading alot the past 4 years. Mainly for bolt action hunting rifles. I picked up a couple of used Blaser rifles the past 2 yrs both R93 and R8 models from this forum website actually. I decided I would try my hand at reloading for R93 .257 WBY and R8 6.5 creedmore for hunting small game in Africa with 100 gr. bullets. My issue with both guns has been after 5-6 firings. I have been getting a significant amount of misfires. Primer shows shallow strike from firing pin. I checked the most recent rounds that misfired and shoulder bump is seemingly good. I use a Redding Instant indicator for measuring shoulder bump. The new lapua brass was Sammi spec. Once fired brass was +0.004 over Sammi, so I set the die to bump to +0.002 Sammi. All the misfires were mostly +0.002 to Sammi. I pulled the misfired cartridges and checked one of the primers in another rifle and it fired the primer so its not likely this is the issue and these are 1 yr old primers. I should state that the 6.5 Lapua brass is small rifle primer brass and I used CCI 400 primers and WSR primers. My concern is that something is going on with the firing bolt and not a me issue. I just find it weird that for a couple hundred rounds no problem and now an entire block of reloads won't fire, well at least half of them, I did not attemt the other half. If you have knowlege of this issue or have some thoughts I appreciate it.

Thank you
Check firing pin protrusion should be about .60 thou of an inch & try factory ammo .

I was just about to update my post. Your reply would have solved the issue. I had loaded some new brass and took some factory ammo to the range. Grabbed a bolt assembly from a brand new R8 and put it in my range box as well, just in case. So, I tried firing the factory ammo and first round didn't fire, nor the 2nd or 3rd. Was going to switch out bolts and shoot. The bolts do NOT match. I was not aware Blaser made different size assemblies for an R8. Now I know. I talked to one of the rangemasters that also worked in his Father's gun smith shop. He offered to take a look. Turns out the firing pin hole was not fully open and full of "crap". We took it to the air compressor and blew out the bolt. Now it shot no problem. This being a used gun I had purchased I have no idea how many times it was fired before but learned something new about R8 rifles this weekend.

I just got a Ruger 77/22 22 Hornet so I will keep this in mind when I start reloading for it.
