A-Frame or Scirocco for mixed bag

I won't say anything about the Sciroccos, as I have no experience with them. Seems the reports are good.

The A-Frame I have watched being used. And they are simply devastating. I'm a big North Fork fan, but until I can get them again, it'll be A-Frames going down my barrels.

I don't think it is even possible for an A frame to fail...

Have used them both. If you plan on breaking lots of heavy bone then use the A frames. The scirocco is a faster expanding bullet and has a tendency to shed more weight when hitting bone . For your situation i would lean twords the scirocco. As stated above moose for as big as they are dont take much punishment . The scirocco seems to have more of that boom flop factor on deer size game. I have only used them in 300 win mag . I have shot African game and North american with them both. Either way it's a win win !

I’ve been hunting moose in Norway a few times. Up there the hunters almost exclusively use Norma Oryx bullets. But nonetheless they do not regard moose as a particularly hard animal to kill. I've seen most killed perfectly adequately with 6.5x55, 308, 30-06, and on and on.
But IMHO, the A Frame is regarded as a tougher bullet than a Scirocco. I would plump for a bullet more inclined to expand.

All week we hunted for a Bull. We got way back into an old logging area. Some newer tracks encouraged us so we went back there. I followed this track into the Bush and, at one point I thought he was going to show himself. Turns out I pushed him past my friend who heard him but never saw him to get the shot....and off he went.....

So, the A-Frames stayed in their cases sadly.

Well, you made an informed choice, so that’s good. You’re light years ahead of me back when I was trying to get smart on bullets and believing all of the marketing bullcrap from Hornady and Berger.

So yes, the bullet to use…..Swift.

Have shot Elk, moose, multiple African plains game including 4 of the Tiny 10 with 200gr A-frames out of both 300WM and 300 WBY all at the speed that Bill at Swift recommended to me years ago (2825-2850). When going on a couple Leopard hunts during covid asked him the same question your asking and he replied "have you ever had an issue with the combination you are using? So why change?"
Worked like a charm on Leopard too!
I've used several calibers of Sciroccos on various game, and it does expand quicker and retained weight is 80-90% vs 95%+. If you are hunting where bears could be a problem, then use SAF for sure. I really have great experience with the 200 A-frame in both my guns and shoot under 0.5 MOA.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!
