9.3x62 load

In my 9.3x62 I use a 286gr prvi partisan and 56gr ADI2208(which is the same as varget) and get 2260fps. That would be a good place to start. Not too many moose in NZ, but it did shoot straight through a red stag at 94yds.
BLC-(2) is suppose to give close to 2500fps with a 286gr and no pressure problems.

Alaska, look through some of the older threads in the under 375 forum and the reloading forum. I think you will find a wealth of information there. You might try the Bullet Performance Data Base as well. Good luck.

Alaska, I reload for my 35 Whelens using IMR 4064. Since the Whelen and the 9.3 x62 are sort of kissing cousins I ran a QuickLoad work up using 286 Gr. Swift A Frames. Out of a 24 " barrel with 53.6 Gr. of IMR 4064 the velicity shown was 2341 FPS. I then did a work up using Varget with the same bullet and barrel length. Max charge of Varget was 54.5 Gr. for 2348 FPS. QuickLoads velocities are based on "norms" it can be tailored to a specific rifle and brass manufacturer with a little tweaking.

I thought about using the 250 AB and Aframe maybe the TTSX in 250 gr in PPU brass
Thanks for the info

I get excellent results with Alliant PowerPro 2000MR. Also working on loads with Ramshot Big Game. A lot of 9.3x62 reloaders on the Alaska hunting forum swear by Big Game.

With 62.0 gr 2000MR, I'm getting a skosh over 2400 with 286 gr Hornady Interlock. Max charge for that powder is listed at 62.4, with a COAL of 3.125. I'm loading out to 3.165" for COAL, though, and still getting that velocity.

I'm currently working up loads for NAB and NP, and have plans to work on A-Frame 300 and Oryx 286.

Thanks for all info
I am new to the 9.3x62 family.
It’s a new addition to my moose hunting arms.
I kinda need some flat trajectory with good bullet construction really swaying toward the 250gr AB in PPU brass.
Have any of you used RL 17 or Norma 201 ?

According to QuickLoad 66.0 Gr. of RL-17 pushing a 250 gr. AB nets you 2706 FPS. That is almost 150 FPS faster than the Max load of N201. Again this is only in theory. Start off using less powder and work your way up based on excess pressure signs.

If you get to 2600 fps with no signs of pressure, be happy with that. That's already the equivalent of a 338 WM throwing the same 250 gr NAB (albeit slightly better BC than .366).

If Swift made a 250 gr Scirocco II, that would probably be the best you could do. As it is, NAB 250 and TTSX 250 will be the two flattest shooters you can get.

if north fork make a 250 gn, that would be excellent for moose, as would swift and maybe the 250 barnes would have a little more penetration.
i have found that swift are shorter than the other 2 mentioned, and where powder space is limited by mag length the swift will allow more powder.
bruce.

I have shot 3 bull moose with 225gr A Frame in my 338 Win with All bang flop kills. Recovered one bullet at 99% weight impact was at 250 yards. Accuracy very good. I hate the price but they are a prem bullet. I might sollow the bullet a buy a box of 250gr A Frames for my 9.3x62.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
