Hello all! Here is my 404 when I first got her.(top picture) She started out as a 338, got converted to a 404 but then her owner passed away. I picked her up at an auction, took her to the gunsmith and here she is!

Congrats on the rifle. It looks great.

From an ugly duckling to a real fine rifle!

Nice looking rifle, consider me jealous (y)

Looks great, congrats!

Great looking rifle! As an owner of a .404 myself, I heartily approve of the calibre!

Can you tell us what is involved in changing a .338 to a .404? I'd have thought it might be easier to buy a new one than change over an existing one . . .

Very nice looking rifle, hope it doesn't have bad juju! :(

Curios to know, did the rifle start as a 338 WM or RUM?

Good morning!

I have no idea. The information that I received from the widows lawyer was just that he had purchased it and another rifle, both 338, for two conversion projects. He had just gotten this one converted (new barrel I would assume, not sure what else, it has some custom tweaks) but then passed away before he was able to start on the second one or finish this one.

If I can figure out how to post it I have a video of myself shooting it. It's on my phone and apparently needs to be in mp4 format to post it, not sure how to convert it. As a bonus incentive to help me I also have a video of my 80lb wife shooting it, so if you want to see that you'll have to help me lol.

Nice rifle, like the upgrades. Enjoy shooting it till you have to build another one. I can tell you from experience that once your wife decides she can shoot it and starts talking "Do you think I could really hunt a buffalo?" She will have a nice 404 and you will be looking for a donor rifle to upgrade:P Pirate: You can guess how I know this.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
Behind the scenes of taking that perfect picture.....

trperk1, I bought the Kimber Caprivi 375 back in an earlier post. You attached a target with an impressive three rounds touching 100 yards. I took the 2x10 VX5 off and put a VX6 HD Gen 2 1x6x24 Duplex Firedot on the rifle. It's definitely a shooter curious what loads you used for the group. Loving this rifle so fun to shoot. Africa 2026 Mozambique. Buff and PG. Any info appreciated.
