17' King Cobra

When I was a kid I used to go to the Miami Serpentarium; they had the biggest King Cobra in captivity. Mr. Hasst would kiss this monster on the forehead and he would milk it, several CCs of venom, it was impressive. Love the place!!

OMG, how sad. That is life in those rural areas with no medical facilities nearby, unfortunately that poor kid didn't have a chance. A snake like that will have at least 1 1/2 to 2" fangs, that's a big Cobra.

Needless to say I Hate Snakes but I have multiple pairs of custom boots, backcut Boa is my favorite snake boot (Ostridge is still the best boot leather, soft and always looks and feels good on)

I was born in the provinces, and we always had a lot of snakes there. I remember people who suffered from snake bites. There were deaths, but mostly people managed to get to the hospital and get an injection. And someone didn't give any injections, like my alcoholic neighbor, who simply increased his daily dose after being bitten by a snake and was treated in this way. And he's cured, by the way.

And I've learned since childhood that the best snake is a dead snake. I myself chopped down several snakes with a shovel at a relatively young age. That was the way it was done. The fewer snakes there are in the area, the better. And in my yard, it's better to do without them altogether.

But much more than snakes, I am angry about the so-called greens. They are mostly loafers on the Internet, scammers who collect money to protect wildlife, but do not know this very nature. Most of all, they shout that it is necessary to protect snakes. At the same time, they do not seem to notice the victims of the bites. I'm not calling for killing all snakes, but they shouldn't be anywhere near my place.

And the biggest snake I ever saw was in India, where my wife and I were on holiday. It was a cobra that lay down in our path. But I didn't have to kill it - a hotel employee did, wielding a big stick. I should have given him a tip, but somehow I didn't think of it.

Where I spend most of my time outside here in South Georgia, snakes, venomous and non are just part of being outside. I don’t hate them or kill them on site most of them time, unless they are hanging around too close to the house. I also don’t go out of my way to look for them either. I will say that the first thing I do if I do kill a venomous snake is remove the head and discard it well out of the way. I had a friend of mine son kill a big rattle snake and he wanted to take pics with it. The snake was dead and somehow the kid had a fang hit/bump his forearm and he had all kinds of problems with that. Expensive and painful lesson to learn. What’s really freaky is when you kill one and skin it and it’s full of eggs. I’ve done that a couple of times. Be mindful of where you put your hands and feet while outside and everything should be ok.

on the farm in the late 40,s and early 50,s my mother was the chief snake killer, copperheads and rattle snakes were the main ones and she used a hoe kept in the mud room (where you took your boots and close off with cow shit on them). she was a slender lady who looked like she would not kill a fly, but she was flint hard. and in later years we would all laugh about it, she passed in 2004 at 82. i think india has the most deaths due to snake bites.

What always shocks me is how much bigger snakes in the Eastern half of the USA get. A western diamondback that is 6 feet is about as big as it is ever going to get. An eastern diamondback is just getting started.

Even bull snakes and coachwhips in the West are small by comparison to your snakes.
