What problems have you encountered with your Blaser R8?

True. But that's not a problem with the rifle, it's a problem you have with the pricing.

The Blaser brand QD mounting system locks up like a bank vault when installed, maintains zero every time and can be removed in under 5 seconds if necessary. Not a lot of other mounts out there that can accomplish these things for less money.

In my opinion the scope mounting system is the best system ever designed, bar none.

It’s a bit difficult to be particularly forensic about it as I was only aware of the issue when the bit of metal went scooting across the table

I had been struggling to seat the .22LR bolt in the carrier- something I’ve done many times -

The cross lever that holds the bolt in place wouldn’t close and I do admit to trying to force it

I removed the .22 bolt and replaced the 404 to check that that would seat correctly- it did!

However I subsequently discovered that the bolt handle had been pushed into the close position- that made it difficult to seat the bolt in the carrier properly

Speculation of course but I must have damaged the firing pin when trying to force the leaver that holds the bolt into position

I don’t, though, know that the cause and affect are related

They did however coincide

My next issue is …

how easy is it to reseat the firing pin

Have i damaged it

If so

Can I purchase a replacement and fit it without sending it back to Blaser
I can’t speak to your 22LR for the Blaser, as I don’t have one.

As for picture loading, it miight be the file type that is giving you a problem. When I take a picture with my iphone it saves the picture as a .HEIC file and that file type dosen’t seem to be accepted when I try to load it into a thread.

What I do to get around this is to email the picture from my iphone to myself. In my email on my MAC laptop I scroll down in the File drop down to 'save attachments”. I will then save it to my desk top. It saves it as a PNG or JPEG, I don’t remember which for sure. Then I drop it into the thread that I am in. Once in, if the picture is rorated wrong then I will delete it from the thread, pull the picture up on my desktop and rorate it one full rotationIf and then leave it in the position I want.

If for some reason the above doesn’t save it properly then try going to print. On Mac’s when you go to print It will offer you to save the file as a pdf. That also should work.

I know this seems somewhat conflated but it has worked for me. It is a pain to have to do it this way. Hopefully I haven’t confused it too much.

My only issue was finding scope mounts and rings when I needed them. Then paying $500 dollars for a mount seems too high for me!
There are other options for mounts that fit Blasers. The one I like is INNOMOUNT. Their feature I like over the Blaser is that they use TORX screws through out their mount, which makes for easier tensioning adjustments, which means no more skinny flimsy screwdrivers . They are also less expensive. I buy mine from Titanium Gunworks in Germany.

Here is I picture of two Innomount mounts, one rail mount under a scope and one Picatinny.

Thank you BeeMaa for showing me a simpler way to insert pictures.

The new Innomount zero is even better. If you will be removing your scope often it is the best I have found. I have tried most of the brands.

Hay guys
So I have owned R8 for many years and absolutely love them
After many year i found out you can lock the trigger magazine system in the gun
There is a small switch in bottom of magazine well u push either forward or back to have it locked into the stock and the u load from top only

Another great feature

It’s marked with an “S” when the trigger assembly is locked in place and it’s covered when the trigger assembly can be removed. When I’m hunting, I leave it locked and load from the magazine from the top.

Correct
I prefer to remove and load magazine
But the way I shoot I don’t need to fill magazine I could use a single shot LOL

Had some issues with the 22lr kit,the retaining pin that keeps the firing pin in place seems prone to failure and it is this part that "falls out" or jams your bolt.It is the tiny upright part on the yellow picks.

I haven't had a problem like that but the retaining pin getting settled correctly when switching bolt heads is a pain.

I’ve had.22 kit for at least 4 or 5 years now. No issues at all….touch wood.

It’s the most accurate.22 LR I’ve ever shot.

Very accurate little rifle, loves premium ammunition but have found a nice midway with the SK match.Been shooting a competition CZ whilst waiting for Blaser parts and I think I will go back to the Blaser for 3 reasons,1.The accuracy is as good as any heavy match barrel,2.The Blaser trigger is phenominal, would upgrade to the ATZL for free recoil/hands off shooting but the standard trigger is good enough to be competitive at club shoots,3.The Blaser balance is perfect when shooting over PRS bags as you dont have a magazine sticking out and can push the rifle forward against the trigger guard giving you another solid point of contact.Hopefully parts will arrive soon! This was a DNT scope test at 100m

I am saying this for long time: If I knew what I know now, and If I knew then where and what I would be hunting globally, I would buy blaser r8, and keep adding the barrels with different calibers.

Now I have all my rifles in my inventory, and I am too weak to change them.

I also hunted plains game with similar blaser r8 in Zimbabwe 2025, also in 30-06.

Ergonomics is fantastic, accuracy is fantastic. Trigger is dream.
Decocking system is best possible safest system.
I can say that.

Unlike other common factories, that have available calibers up to 300 win mag, 338 win mag, 9.3x62 on medium action, Blaser is the only factory rifle that has excellent options in DG calibers for Africa. No other factory rifle has that.

I had the metal spring piece in bottoms of trigger/magazine housing go missing. Couldn’t figure out why my rounds weren’t cycling and found the piece missing.

Blaser USA sent me one free of charge, didn’t even charge shipping. Good on them, and I have been a loyal customer.

I just received a Blaser Professional 2.0 stock and the spring was loose in the packaging. Never seen that before. I put it back in and it's been fine ever since.

Hey my friend.

Never even thought of it till I lost this one. It kind snaps in place, but it’s definitely not in there tight by any means. But really shouldn’t be an issue unless changing the magazine insert.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
