My 2025 Pronghorn is done

My taxidermist has sent me a picture of my 2025 Pronghorn. One of my favorite things about Pronghorn is how different they can be.

Thanks! I saw his backwards horn and decided that he was the one I was going to go for. Took a couple hours to crab walk, butt scoot, and crawl into shooting range. It was a really fun hunt, had to back out of a stalk when I realized I wasn’t going to have enough cover to make it to a shooting position. I don’t like to shoot past 400 yards as a rule. I was able to back out and work another drainage to get to the other side of the bowl he had bedded down in. Pronghorn are probably my favorite thing to hunt in the States. They are just plain old fun and at least for me it is always a group type hunt so it’s good to get out with friends. I live on the East Coast so for me it’s an every other year DIY hunt.
 
Nice work on the taxidermy. I don't understand the floor pedestal with a Kentucky bourbon barrel, but to each his own.

He was kind of a murderer buck with that horn configuration. Good you got him, he could have killed other bucks pretty easily during the rut.

Thanks, not my barrel lol. He is doing a big whitetail mount on it. He is a super talented Taxidermist he has only done like a dozen pronghorn in 30 years being in Ny. Murder buck is a hilarious term. But I can see how that would work. I killed one a few years ago whose entire nose was almost ripped off but had healed.

A murderbuck is what Europeans call a roe deer buck that does not have any forks. As they get older they kill a lot of younger bucks.

The buck (still in his pajamas) is a murder buck (not mine). I have never killed one.

The skulls are typical bucks, a mix of Germany, Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovenia bucks. I can't remember when I took this photo, so I can't recall where I shot them. I think I was doing a demo on skull size. The biggest skull and antlers is from Hungary.

Super neat deer. I definitely want to venture to Europe to hunt them and Chamois one day.
 
The last pronghorn I killed in Wyoming in 2022. Burned 11 years of points to get him.

Hunt was a shit show, not worth repeating here, I wanted to hunt alone in a certain area, and even at 50 years old I had straphangers. My 85 year old father and my 77 year old uncle. So they made me shoot the first buck we saw. Then my dad gave everyone covid.

They are both still kicking, so it might be the last hunt together. I don't know, but I would have rather had a doe tag with them a long.

My plan was to try to take a boon and crocket buck as I had a good unit and a ton of time. But there was a big drought and bucks were not as good as I would have liked.

I have 13 points going into 2027 for mule deer in Wyoming. I am not telling a soul I am hunting.
 
Unique and interesting buck. I have high hopes in punching a very limited ranch tag next month myself.
 
The unique ones are more memorable to me. Looks great!

I wasn't gonna shoot a warthog last year on my cape buff hunt but this guy came out. Has character.

Good Luck, I’ll enter the Wyoming Draw this year with 20-21 points across the board for all species. Should I decide to hunt and not sit back for a few more years on pronghorn it could be good.

Congrats @Tdsmith517 on a great speedgoat. I love the weird ones too. I shot one with a front and rear prong in 2019 on an OTC tag
