I don't think I've ever seen a broken M98 extractor. They're as rare as rocking-horse shit. That second extractor broke the same way my 8x68 broke, I thought age fatigue but my gunsmith friend said it was caused by people (somewhere in the fifty odd years pre me) slamming the bolt closed to force a non magazine fed round to chamber without enough clearance in the "C ring cutout" to allow the extractor to clear when it flexes to go over the rim
Gumpy
I'd wager that Tikka's 99 year old 10.75 had some unknown history of "slamming the bolt closed to force a non magazine fed round to chamber without enough clearance in the "C ring cutout" to allow the extractor to clear when it flexes to go over the rim ". Also, its bolt look a little rough. What an old workhorse!
The 460 Brno 602? Hmmmm, perhaps just a bad part?
Anyway, Mauser CRF fans, I wouldn't worry. Two robins does not a Spring make.
