I am torn between doing a Combo Tur & mid Asian ibex hunt or going to Mozambique

Can you hunt the Tur and Ibex together? To my knowledge it is not within the same region. I'll hunt Dagestan Tur this September.

They have not hunting them in Azerbeidzjan for several years. I know because I checked. It is only for the time being in Russia and depending on the subspecies also in Georgia. Outfitters will list them and when checking there is no quota given for them in Azerbeidzjan.

I would go if you want an Ibex for the Siberian ibex. You will not find better prices then at the current time.

Neal and Brownlee are very good and well known in Asian hunting circles. I have used them several times.
 
I have heard so many bad rumors that I would not think of booking without the collective wisdom of the AH community! May well be as important who NOT to book with as who TO book a hunt with.
Would surely be an interesting trip. Hope all goes well, stays safe, and nothing goes south.

Hunted ibex in Kyrgyzstan in 2019 with my wife and took two great billies. Booked thru Tim Herald who then booked it thru Martin AMO. Was a bit of a shit show with AMO (dates rebooked, no hotel bookings, PH on ground not given full details, trophy export issues etc etc etc) but we worked around all that and had an awesome adventure.

Would love to do a tur hunt but Azerbaijan has not had any quota for some years now and is not open in 2026 for tur. Waiting game ....

Where are you planning on hunting tur ?

I’m looking into this. I’ve talked to Safari-Pro outfitters at the last two DSC shows. They are a little unique in that their price includes travel assurance, booking your airfare and the freight and customs getting it home. They also have a taxidermist who will do the work at significant discount as part of the package. I like the one stop shop aspect.

Downside is they are small and I haven’t been able to talk to many who have used them.

I get nervous flying to Asia with agin and hoping the right people are there with the right permits etc.

Anyone used them or know someone who has?
 
I would talk to Mark Audino with caprinae safaris about an Asian hunt, especially in any of the “Stans”.

I am booked with Hunting Consortium for Hume Argali in Kyrgyzstan 2027. I have had good experiences with them.
 
Forgot about this thread that I started. I ended up booking through Tim Herald at Worldwide Trophy Adventures. I'll be leaving Sept. 8th, hunting September 12-16. Nurik Oskoev will be my outfitter.

For mountain hunting around the world The Hunting Consortium is very hard to beat, as is Jack Atcheson. The two of them typically know what’s going on well before the any news makes it out.

Cecil, when in 2027 will you be hunting? I’m doing Kyrgyzstan for Hume and ibex the first ten days of Nov 27!
 
Nevada Wapiti, I’ll see you in Istanbul and will be hunting ibex as well with WTA.
 
I am hunting in Mid October, should be some good hunting reports.

I’ve not, but a good friend of many years has hunted twice with Asif and regards him very highly. He shot a good Marco Polo and big ibex on one hunt and the first time was just ibex and killed a big Billy that trip too. I’ve asked him about Asian hunts before and he told me Asif is very good and he would hunt with him again, no hesitation.
 
I’m booked with Asif for my Kyrgyz hunt in 27! Has been straight forward to book. And he seems like he has a good number of repeat clients so I’m hoping it’s a good experience.

Send me a DM with any specific questions and I can reach out to my brother. As I mentioned in my original post, he and a couple of his buddies hunted with Asif and are the hunters in the video posted.

I know my brother came back satisfied with his hunt overall, and would do it again. It wasn't perfect, but it was real hunting.

One point of note, not necessarily Asif's issue, my brother had asked for "dip and pack" of euro for skull/horns, plus a hide cut for shoulder mount. He got back his horns definitely, but it was a skull cap only and the hide. No chance to do euro now, will have to be a shoulder mount.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
