2027 has filled up beautifully, but still has a few late season openings for anyone who is interested in exploring the Eastern Cape!

Our late season special is as follows:
• 7 day hunt

• Springbuck, Impala, Blesbuck, Warthog, Duiker.

Awesome first time hunter deal!!!!! I would ask them the extra cost to swap out the Duiker for a zebra now that would be simply an unbeatable offer from anyone!!!

That’s a nice flintlock, good stuff.

I’ve always wanted to take mine there but heard real black powder was nigh on impossible to source.

It’s an incredible area to hunt, with such a variety of terrain and wildlife. Hopefully we can make something happen in the future!

The gentleman pictured with the flintlock used it on many safaris with us over the years, successfully taking the SCI #1 Ranking East Cape Kudu with a muzzleloader! We never had issues getting powder for his trips, we can get real black powder and a locally produced substitute, Sanadex. The commonly used substitutes such as Pyrodex, 777, etc are nearly impossible to get. Percussion caps and 209 primers can be organised with enough notice. I must mention, it has been roughly 5/6 years since we last had to organise this for this gentleman, so a quick check-up on our part would be needed before confirming the above!

While you do have a photo or two of trophies taken with a bow, I don't see any mention of them on your website. Do you have any hides for bowhunters, or is it just walk and stalk for them?

We currently have 10 hides throughout our area, with shots ranging anywhere from 8-40yds.

The Mankazana, however, is not your typical “African” terrain one sees so often on YouTube videos. This area is mountainous, rugged, thick, often lush, thick montane forest, wide open plateaus, and meandering rivers and streams. Food and water is plentiful, which doesn’t lend itself to having 50+ animals surrounded around a waterhole… which seems to catch the attention of most Africa bound bowhunters.

Our game is not glued to a waterhole due to there being enough water, most times of the year, for them to find it wherever they may be feeding. We have quality blinds and good odds at each one, keeping in mind this is a completely different scene than most videos portray of African hide hunting.

The terrain in the Mankazana, and Eastern Cape in general, lends itself wonderfully to walk and stalk hunting. We’ve found tremendous success over the years bowhunting on foot. I will attach a few more images to this reply.

I trust this gives a better insight into the bowhunting scene?

Thank you very much for the very detailed response regarding bowhunting. When I asked it, I thought your available dates corresponded well with dark of the moon dates in 2027, and not conflicting with hunts at home, but I was mistaken. The dates aren't as good as I originally thought.

I've bowhunted three provinces in South Africa, so I've seen some variety of habitat and the like, but maybe not anything quite like you have. I'm looking for a place to take my son, who is not a very experienced bowhunter, for his (likely) only African hunt, so trying to put the odds of a good hunt in his favor.

Since you posted a picture of a Fallow at the end, I was curious if you had good numbers of mature bucks, and how difficult they would be with a bow?

As someone who is a diehard bowhunter himself, I would certainly give a lot of thought as to where I take a less experienced archer for a likely only African hunt.
An operation with solid blind setups and close quarter interactions is ideal, giving one the best odds of success. Although the Eastern Cape is a truly remarkable place to hunt, it undoubtedly comes with its own ways of challenging a hunter, which often requires someone with a little more experience behind the string.

There are good populations of Fallow Deer in our area. Successfully Bowhunting a mature buck during the rut is unlike anything else we have in Africa. Peak rut being early to mid-April. To someone who has not experienced the fallow rut, it is a mixture of elk, whitetail, and red stag all in one. During peak rut, the bucks tend to let their guard down significantly, which gives one a really good chance at getting a buck. Pre and post rut also have the potential to give a few close opportunities, but stalking ability comes in to play more so than peak rut where calling tactics often work well.

If I´m not mistaken there is a Vaal Rhebuck taken with a bow on one of the pics, that is properly impressive!

I did look long and hard at this offer but I think I need to save up for another year before I go again (have to sort out a hunt report from my hunt earlier this year)

Indeed sir, I was the fortunate hunter to get the one with the bow. To my knowledge, less than 10 have been taken with bow and arrow.
