I was as happy as a box of fluffy ducks when the crates arrived from the Selous to Northern BC. Less than a year from the Safari in Tanz and no problems whatsoever in its travels.
I couldn’t imagine just taking pictures and not having my buff skulls with me to admire until the end of my time. I thought about it as well and thankfully I decided to bring them home. What a euphoric feeling I received while opening and touching the trophies again, amazing. Highly recommended!
My cost breakdown is as follows and I should mention that I used Dale Warren of Talon Distribution in Edmonton as my agent. He was absolutely brilliant.

Total freight from Tanzania (89kg) $2225
Airport handling fee $365
Customs export and Agent fee $350
Total $2940 US

Customs Canada GST $516.59
Customs Canada clearance $350
CFIA inspection fee $49.50
Terminal charges at airport $135
NAV Can fees $12
Storage charges (6 days) $240
Pick up from airport in Edmonton $85
Talon document handling fees $195
Terminal cross dock $57.50
Courier fees $50
Transportation from Edmonton to Smithers BC $159.50
More GST $27.97
Visa payment charge (3%) $59.36
Total $1934.87 CAN

Grand total with currency conversions to the next to worthless Canadian dollar is $6014.56 (about $4300 US).

This included to 2 buffalo skulls, hippo skull, warthog skull, impala skull, one hippo foot and a buffalo scrotum. All just dipped and packed.
Cheers

To me having these buff skulls stacked in my living room is priceless. Expensive but worth it.

Man, I was in the wrong business ! Beautiful trophies.

I should have put this up for reference.

Congrats... I can't leave behind my trophies either. JUST CAN'T DO IT...

I tell everyone that shipping (dip/pack) is 5k, add that to your safari cost.
Who did you hunt with? Great trophies congrats!!

They look great.
The smile on your wife and son's faces is priceless.

I can’t imagine having just skulls and not having the animal mounted on some type of pedestal. Perhaps my outlook will change after a few trips- they say it does.

Or if you run out of space to hang them. :ROFLMAO:

I went with Heritage and thanks man

Priceless

I actually prefer the skulls stacked as opposed to a shoulder mount…I can just keep stacking em up!

Appreciate the breakdown!

I've heard cost went up after Covid but not too crazy much more then my similar weight crate from Zim in 2018

Good food for thought for my next trip.

Great looking trophies!!!!

Thanks Adam, I was actually expecting it to be worse.

Glad you got them back

Looks like you had a great hunt with Stephan. He seems to be going great job with Luke’s old blocks.

Thanks Adam, I was actually expecting it to be worse.
Just looked at my old writeup.

identical crate weight. 84kg. ( had full cape buff skin )
Was 600 dip pack. 1400 shipment.
Then +\-1200 Canadian

I cannot leave my future animal skulls but I think it'll be lighter small crate this time.

I also can’t imagine not bringing home at least Euro mounts. Maybe that will change with more trips under my belt.

Be careful of this Wolfen guy. 2 messages. Both trying to sell something. He PM'ed me trying to sell something and he PM'ed my friend on here trying to sell something. Fishy.

Hi Dr. Ray, I will be in Cooktown from Oct 16 to Oct 23 fishing Lizard Island Black Marlin Tournament.

I have several "slack" days after fishing before I head for stay in Sydney and Fiji.

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
Thank you,
Bob
