Funding a Safari with Facebook Marketplace

I didn't even believe it was possible, yet here we are...

Quite impressive! You have inspired me to fund my next safari with a similar endeavor.

My youngest is getting ready to do an internship in Australia for the summer… she started flipping furniture and other things she finds cheap on auctions and estate sales as soon as she got home from her university and has already made several hundred dollars to use as “fun” money for her trip…

She’s still got a couple of weeks before she flies… I’m guessing she’ll pull in an easy grand before she’s wheels up…

As long as you stay out of my neighborhood

But seriously, I’m not stopping at this. This extra cash infusion can allow for some serious adventure, and I don’t even have to dip into my regular money.

That’s the reason my wife and I do taxes every year from January to April…

We “live”, save, fill retirement accounts etc based on our salaries from our career positions…

The money we pick up doing taxes and some bookkeeping and accounting with one of our businesses is our “travel fund”… it pays for adventures, hunting, major “fun” purchases like our boat, and other endeavors without us tapping into money from our “real” jobs…

we let the success of our small business and the amount of work we are willing to put in dictate our budget for safaris, and other vacations, etc…

That’s smart and a great that you both have that marketable skill.

Speaking of which I may need someone to do my taxes. Just got married and need to figure out the best way to do it now. Jointly, separately etc. Let me know if you or your wife might be the right fit.

I’ll shoot you a PM…

She’s definitely the better fit… she’s a 30+ year experienced accountant and has a team of staff accountants that work for her…

I’m basically the run and fetch guy that does what he’s told lol..,

Makes me think about all the ways one might come up with 'safari' money on the side.

I'm sure there's been a million different ways its been done, but facebook mp is definitely a new one! And Im guessing even more new ways will arise.

Man... absolutely killing it! Well done!

What a result! Well done!

On top of the money, I also managed to outfit almost an entire home gym from this, and I’m in the best shape of my life because of it. Not to mention plenty of other furniture and useful items I’ve picked up. In fact, Im looking around, and almost every single piece of furniture in my office was found on the side of the road…

Amazing Man! That took a lot of dedication. I hope your safari is even better because of it.

I gave up on marketplace, now I collect the items and every couple of months I drop them off at a consignment auction

This is good stuff.

I’m about to scale out to include consignment stores

Inspiring. I dont have that kind of neighborhood, but since I'm about to retire and I'd like to put at least ONE of the Big 5 in my book, I plan on downsizing quite a bit so God willing I may make that happen purging the closets.

I keep telling people, but no one believes me: My neighborhood is about as middle class as could be. Like if you go watch the show “The Middle,” it’s pretty much the exact same. The average housing price is under or around $300k. I cannot figure out why so many people throw so much stuff out.

I considered starting up my own blog site to fund my hunting and fishing. But figured I'm too much of an asshole. Then I checked out a bunch of the influencer sites. Hell, I'm a natural! :D

Have a great time in Africa. Well deserved!

Question is: Why do they buy the crap in the first place?
