What Watch do you wear when you hunt?

As long as we're on the subject of Sinn watches, I found this little special-order product somewhat interesting. Depending on what (or who) you are hunting.

I picked up this Nite MX10 a few years ago and it has held up well. Hunting in the snow and rain in the fall, below freezing temps trapping in the winter and fishing in the salt water during the summer.

Mine is at least 15 years old, may be 20 years. Last 5 years it's only in the swim bag.

Incidentally, while in Europe on some personal business last fall, I decided to transit the airport in Frankfurt a.M and was able to visit the Sinn factory. Access to the factory floor is strictly verboten, but they do have a very nice factory store which you can visit.

The staff on-duty plied me with coffee and chocolate and then left me free to peruse the historical displays and the for-sale inventory. Although I only made a few small purchases they were extremely helpful and friendly. If one found himself in Frankfurt with a few hours' spare time, it is a worthwhile stop.

Like that BULOVA - Sutton .... A Pocket Watch is my everyday watch. I have a couple modern quartz movements , a couple Antique mechanical wind movements. For hunting/fishing I wear a Casio - PRO TREK , for snorkeling I have a Longines Hydroconquest

Its been a great watch, the multi-functions are useful , multi-timezone , sunrise/sunset , barometric pressure , altitude , compass , thermometer , count down timer & stop watch.
The Baro , Alti & Comp are the main features I use the most. I carry a Compass , and Kestrel, which are more precise, but the watch features are convenient for quick reference.
 
Only got into wearing a watch this past year and started with vintage military watches like this Eterna.

I can’t justify a multi $1000 watch but some day a vintage Seamaster 300 would suit me :)

That ORVIN is a legit time piece, not as popular as some other MFG , but that & the GLYCINE are solid dive/snorkel watches in my opinion ....

I'd have bought an ORVIN if I could find 1 in decent shape like yours, everyone I have come a cross has been very well worn or beat to shit. Which is a testament to the use & durability. What's wild is everyone I looked at - mechanical manual wind - still worked!

The GLYCINE is a mechanical self winding that is similar in design.

Any chance you recall where you got that "Sail Cloth" watch band/strap from ?

The sailcloth strap came with the watch. I just Googled “sailcloth watch strap” and found a dozen manufacturers of lots of styles.

I have a bit of a diver fetish at the moment and the Orvin has been running very well. I see quite a few them on eBay, some are pricey… but deals are out there.

Give Zuludiver a try. They are based in GB but are worth the money and wait in my opinion.
 
Always liked the look of a Flieger Type B. Finding one with day/date function is pretty cool.

I love my Seiko’s but their warranty dept is absymal. I returned my less than a year old Prospex Land Tortoise to them in July. It just stopped working one day. I got it back 5 weeks later. The watch now told time but the second hand spun around the dial. I shipped it back yet again this week.

Here is one I have not seen. Watches.... I am a huge watch lover. I was curious what do all of the AH.com crowd wear when on a hunt? I wore a Suunto Traverse Alpha on my last few hunts. I am so anti digital watches, I am a bit of a snob when it comes to watches. But I thought it would be great as it has a built in breadcrumb view via GPS. This allowed me to leave the GPS at home for my backpack hunts etc. But I quickly learned this watch "specifically designed" for hunting, was crap. When in normal watch mode the battery lasts forever. But in GPS mode which I assume everyone is using if they bought the "hunting" version. The battery hardly lasts 5-6 hours. So I am debating dumping this and going back to a good ole fashioned automatic watch. One where battery won't matter. And bring back my GPS which last for weeks in GPS mode.

My tried and true Apple Watch, with an elastic band. As long as we have electricity in the camp at night, it works for me.
