fwiw my family has a veterinarian in it and he prescribed Frontline for us here at the house, I personally like Bravecto because I think it is also a heart worm and intestinal worm prevention ?

Yes. What you suggest is certainly possible. However, over the last twelve years, we have never found a tick on one of our dogs (three or four at any given time), and never one loafing in bed or on the couch. Our daughter is also in veterinary work, and she strongly recommended Bravecto. No complaints from us.
 
Frontline doesn’t have any repellancy and also requires the tick to bite the pet and then it dies. Takes nearly 24 hours for frontline to kill a tick where the isoxalazines only take a few hours. There are no really effective commercial made products for dogs that repel ticks. Seresto collars contain flumethrin which is in the pymethrin family. It’s probably the best product we have to repel ticks. In my opinion bravecto, credelio, simparica, and nexgard are all better tick control than seresto collar, but the seresto collars are really good too. They all do a good job killing the tick before it jumps ship and moves to human. Fleas and ticks usually prefer dogs to humans anyway
 
And you guys haven't even mentioned European Tick Borne Encephalitis (TBE) yet...

At least there is a vaccine.
 
I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease a couple of years ago. The dr figures I had had for three to four years. It settles in my knees and lower spine. Had difficulty walking for months. Did two 28 day cycles of doxy followed by 28 days of IV antibiotics. Lost approximately two inches of muscle in my thighs and and inch or so in calves and arms. Has been a slow recovery but slowly bouncing back.

While I’ve pulled out many ticks over the years, I don’t recall any showing signs of a bullseye or having flu like symptoms after a bite.

Lyme is no joke. Some people see the bullseye and get doxy right away and are fine. Others like me show no symptoms and then suffer severe consequences. Use the spray, go to doctor when bit by one, and as my doctors told me, fight to the front of the line when a vaccine is available.

I use sawyers in every season but dead winter so I probably go through a gallon each year and will be looking into the ag product. I don’t just treat my hunting clothing but all clothing I wear when working outside even in my garden.
 
NJ is ground zero. Any time I am in the woods now the clothes I wear are treated with permethrin.

The conspiracy theorists are saying they think the FDA/CDC planted them to get more people with Lyme's Disease. Pfizer is supposedly coming out with a vaccine. I don't know if I believe it but it's interesting.

At my archery club, I am bringing the permethrin every time I go. I bought a garden sprayer and use the concentrate. If anyone wants a quick coat at least on their pants, I am happy to oblige.
