Watch Your Booked Flights!

I fly in June through London to Johannesburg. Everything good so far but watching closer now.
I bought every flight i needed until the end of the year before the prices started going up. I've seen about a $400 increase on all my economy tickets since I bought them.

Any of you guys ever rented a Toyota in Namibia to drive to your Safari. I was wondering about the safety and feasibility of a road trip.
We rented a car after our safari in 2017 to drive around touring. Had zero problems. On another safari in Namibia, the ph lended us his vehicle to go and visit our friends from the previous trip there, again zero problems.

On Delta right now as I type. Nashville, Atlanta, Joberg, Harare. So far so good. Had to change 2-1/2 weeks ago from flying Emirates through Dubai for some reason. Living I guess. I’ll report on Delta One service and baggage handling. Bags on this flight at least.

From Frankfurt to Windhoek is their partner airline, Discover Airlines and they have lay flat seat cubicles.

Eurowings changed their name to Discover. They fly Airbus A330's to Windhoek. It has been a while since I was on that flight (I flew them when they were Eurowings) so perhaps they have upgraded their business class cabin. The had lie flat seat in the past but they were old and uncomfortable to say the least. I wish you all the best and hopefully they upgraded their business class cabins

Delta is at it again. Booked my flights August 15,2025 for June 2026 Safari. Delta Houston Atlanta JNB. Well today I just noticed Delta has cancelled the Houston Atlanta legs going and coming back. Moved me to a Standby list no seat assignment on flights with so short connection times no way I can make it and guns sure won’t. I know it’s still months out, but sure glad I booked thru Travel Express and Jennifer will sort it out come Monday. This is reason I use a travel agent. So you all might want keep an eye on your flights. I usually check every couple days see nothing has changed.
Delta has been so disappointing as of late for me

One AH member here told me this last Monday that he was attempting to book a flight on Qatar for his Safari in September to Zim and the fare for a Q suite would be $12,500! I think he had a coronary! LOL
I bought my ticket to SA 4 months ago on Emirates and business class was only $4500 R/T

These are traumatic times. I have a safari booked for August and I will be surprised if I am able to make it. Actually, I'll be surprised if the whole world doesn't go up in flames by then. A special thank you to those who voted Republican in 2024. Actually, there a few sensible GOP in D.C. Two I think ... and both refuse to run again this fall. Don't blame the airlines. Blame those who made their mark at the ballot box.
This post is about Mark giving us all a heads up on his Delta issues. There are issues with every airline every year. Your pessimism about travel this summer and your totally ignorant view of US politics are not wanted here.

I’m currently watching two big flights, one domestic and one international, coming in June and again July. One of reasons we are having to “watch” these flights for delays, cancellations or major and costly disruption is not the weather it IS politics!
If you are on one of the Arab carriers you may have issues otherwise there have not been any major disruptions my friend.

Two different things currently affecting air travel my friend. I am well aware of the carriers I have tickets with and the flight dates, routes and issues affecting those flights. With the Dems throwing a tantrum befitting a two year old protesting ICE by blocking DHS funding, some domestic TSA lines have exceeded 5 hours with some disruption likely continuing for some time. I’d call that a major disruption. With flights currently cancelled through much of Mideast due to Iran war, I’d call that a major disruption. My international flight in July is through Mideast. No guarantees, no crystal balls on that one.

Guess what’s my one consolation about the well healed who taunt the rest of us commoners flying economy, cattle class? They are equally affected by disruptions and cancellations. Watched it play out last year where a Qatar Air flight was disrupted, mid flight, by a major failure on one of their 787s. All the snobs in business class/Q Suite were instantly converted to commoners having to scramble for overnight accommodations and connecting flights next day. :)

That’s not accurate. Fuel prices have caused lots of airlines to change scheduling. We no longer had the direct to Madrid from IAD. American has cut international flights. American flagged carriers are not flying through the gulf hubs. I have tow friends that have had to redo flights one adding nearly 10 hours of travel time to get to the Maldives on United. My flight to Rome in November has been rescheduled twice since March first.

Airlines are trying to sort out the whole system with changes to routes and an eye to fuel prices.

You can still get there you need to go but it has been disrupted.

I had so many changed flights with Delta. This is our first trip not using Delta. But Delta always gave us seat assignments on our new flights.

Sorry bud, but I am voting republican again. It would be far worse if we had democrats back in there. Things are happening now because of the previous democrats, they just kept the pot simmering, now it is boiling. We are heading to JNB in the beginning of August, not too worried about things. Glad this is happening now. We are already making plans for Australia next year.

Delta has gone to crap and Alaska airlines a while back .They lost my dogs on both Delta and Alaska airlines .They will tear your luggage to pieces too saw lots of danaged bags .Its like gorillas who hate to work there .Delta is based out of atlanta which is the worse airport in the country .
Well Virgin Atlantic broke the center support off of my bow case last year. It survived 5 other overseas trips, just fine. Fortunately my husband is taking the crossbow and I can use the SKB case.

We got Emirates bus in August for just a little under $5700 each.

Sorry I was not speaking of the entire aviation industry but the most common routes to Southern Africa not being disrupted. Safari being the context I was using.
I tire of the never ending headline of high fuel prices as if we've not been here before. People need to take a look at a historical oil price chart.

Yea the whole government funding issue is ridiculous but we need to see it for what it is. Democrats want to cheat our elections. Period, end of discussion.
I am glad I depart from San Antonio because it is a small airport and TSA is never an issue. I'll still arrive a bit earlier than usual however. The 15th can't get here soon enough!

I prefer Emirates and have found their business runs $2k less Q every time I’ve flown/looked. Only reason I’ve used Qatar is to get to Harare in time to charter out. $8 v 10k this time around.

Need anything in trade?
Cheers,
